A few things in the lost and found.
Anyone missing a set of keys? |
Re: 2008 Chesapeake Regional
On behalf of Team 1980, The Brigade, I would like to congratulate the winners, finalists and award winners of the Chesapeake Regional. It was particularly gratifying to see 11, MORT, our alliance partners from Trenton, going to the Game.
I would also like to express our gratitude to team 224 for selecting us as alliance partners. We regret that a mechanical malfunction that disabled our hurdling ability made us decide to withdraw. Until then, along with team 75, I think we were an awesome alliance. It was also a pleasure to see teams 768, 888, 1727 receive awards. The mentors from these teams shared generously with me when I sought advice from them as a fledgling mentor. It’s not surprising that the teams they mentor are beneficiaries of their wisdom and experience. Larry |
Re: 2008 Chesapeake Regional
To all the Chesapeake Teams,
On behalf of the Chesapeake Regional Planning Committee, please let your student volunteers know how much we appreciate how well they represented FIRST at the Chesapeake Regional. The Student Ambassadors, the Student Singers from the US and UK, the Student speakers at the VIP lunch and the students who volunteered in other capacities, made us proud. FIRST is interested in learning from our experiences using the Student Ambassadors at the Chesapeake Regional. Some regionals use only Chairmans Award winners, others use just FIRST alumni. Our experience has been that we can enlist the help of a wide variety of students and teams, all representing FIRST. With a little coaching, your students helped to explain, first hand, what FIRST meant to them, as only they can do. They have some wonderful stories. Many thanks! With respect, Jenny |
Re: Hellooooo from the NE
I would like to thank the Naval Academy for hosting the Chesapeake Regional. I am quite sure that all 60 participants had a great time. I know we, at team 88, had another super time at this regional. Thank you for a job well done, for all the volunteers, their gracious professionalism, the referees and judges. As usual, this is a very high class regional. We enjoyed the great competition from all of the teams and look forward to returning again some time soon.
Congratulations to teams: 11, 2016 and 1418 for their win in the finals. Also, thank you to Team 1111 for picking us along with 888 to make our run to the finals. To all the award winning teams and those who didn't I am quite sure that this will be a very memorable regional for years to come. May you all enjoy the rest of '08 competitions. Hope to see again soon. Oh Yeah???? OH YEAH!!!!! :yikes: Team 88 TJ2 and MOE |
Re: 2008 Chesapeake Regional
Congratulations to all of the award winners, finalists, and champions at Chesapeake. Team 341 had an absolutely amazing time.
I would particularly like to thank our alliance partners 2234 and 449. We made an awesome team. To Ron Karpinski (FTA) and all of the on field volunteers, you are what makes FIRST great. Special congratulations to Team 768 for your Chairman's Victory. You truly deserve it! The Needel family has worked so hard to keep this program going and their day has finally arrived. And finally thank you to the organizers for taking the time to remember Mike Wade on Friday. I speak for our entire team when I say how much we miss his big smile and helping hands. In many ways the Chesapeake Regional is the "House That Mike Built"! Hopefully FIRST will do more to honor this man on the Championship Stage! |

Congrats to team 11 on their win. Now all we have to do is hope that we are in the same division at the Championship Event. :yikes:

Re: 2008 Chesapeake Regional
Obligatory question, as I saw a fair number of recording devices at the AV table: Does anyone have the match video in a state that can be chopped up for TBA?

I will send an email to all the Chesapeake teams and post something here as soon as I have any info. We will also try to get any links on the chesapeakefirst website as soon as we know, including photos. All this takes some time, and there are only a few volunteers doing it, so thanks to everyone for for your patience and understanding. :) And thanks to all the great teams and volunteers that made this event the friendly regional it is. |

Re: 2008 Chesapeake Regional
Many thanks to the 33 teams who sent me positive feedback and constructive criticism about the 2008 Chesapeake. All comments had identifiers removed and were compiled into the "lessons learned" which was discussed by the Planning Committee last week.
Hope to see everyone next year! |

Re: 2008 Chesapeake Regional
OK, so I know this is such a late response, but I am a very busy young woman and I wanted to say some things before I forgot. ;)
I've been attending the Chesapeake Regional for six years, and every year it never ceases to amaze me. This is an amazing competition, and I can't believe how wonderful you teams truly are. Your creativity and respect astounds me. Thank you, teams, for being so faithful to this regional, and making it the popular and wonderful competition that it is. I truly hope to see all of you next year. Thank you to the Committee for once again putting together this regional for its sixth year. It's always such a wonderful time, and it's beautifully run. I had the best time volunteering with you all; it truly was and is a pleasure. I was happy that the Committee decided to have a special moment of silence to remember Mike Wade. He was a spectacular man, and I was very close to him. His death has left a mark upon my heart, and I was grateful for that time to remember him and all that he had done for me, the local teams, the regional and FIRST. Thank you to Greg Needel and Jeff Seaton for a great job as MC and announcer. You both did a fantastic job, and it's always a pleasure to see (and hear!) you each year. To all of the other volunteers: referees, pit divas, judges, field set/reset, thank you. Your hard work is not overlooked. You are the reason why the Chesapeake Regional stays alive here. Thank you for all you do! Please come back again. Many thanks to the lovely singers we had! Both groups sang wonderfully. I'd like to also congratulate (very late, but ah well) all the teams that received awards! What an honor! I am extremely proud of all teams. You all are such a joy to work with and talk to, and it's always so great to see so many different people working together for a single purpose. That's what amazes me about FIRST; everyone is different, everyone comes from a different type of life, and we all come together as one unit. I hope that all of you stay a part of this wonderful program. It truly is a wonder in itself. I can't wait until next year! :) |
Re: 2008 Chesapeake Regional
While continuing our post-Chesapeake organization fest, we came across a box which had a presently-legal battery inside. The battery doesn't have any markings (and ours do, on top of all of ours being accounted for). I'm not sure when/how we (and by "we", I probably mean "I") can get it back to you, but is anyone short a battery?

Re: 2008 Chesapeake Regional
i gotta say being in first for all that time was amazing. especially since this was my first year. We did really bad at Manchester, so i got to see one end of the spectrum. But once you do really good, everyone starts sucking up and coming over "How are you?" I'm not complaining i'm just saying. Overall it was fun. Could of done without the dissapointment, but oh well. Always next year (bet the seniors wish they could say that:( ).
