He was pretty FANTASTIC!

As the Duct Tape Bandits let it be heard all through the arena..."LEE! LEE! LEE! LEE! LEE! LEE!" :yikes:

Philly was fantastic! The energy was amazing! I know we had the best time cheering with the Duct Tape Bandits! And eating faux sushi by the Quantum Samurai! And seeing the bright splashes of colors around the arena since we all packed in on Saturday! And getting pumped up by Shaniqua and George and Barry! And all the awesome teams and robots! So many memories in three days! And it was especially fun for me because I came to my brother's home regional and we got to play with his team! 1640 - you were real troopers and we appreciate that!

Congrats to Miss Daisy, Moe and Chuck 84! I was especially thrilled for Chuck, not just because they were next to us in the stands, but because it seemed like the cards were stacked against them in virtually every qualification match. They are proof that perseverance pays off!

And congrats Miss Daisy on the Chairman's! Your team is an wonderful role model!

And a huge thank you to my team for their effort the whole three days! You worked hard on the robot, on spirit, on scouting, and on SAFETY!!!! :D

The Philly Regional was amazing. From the Vets to the Rookies, everyone was just awesome. As you know, my team, 2668 North Montco Vortex did win the Rookie All-Star award and it felt great. We showed that rookies can be amazing. We had judges, ref's, and other teams routing for us all the way. We qualified for Atlanta, and now we need money to get there. All-in-all it was an awesome feeling to be there. The finals were absolutly outstanding. Congrats to Moe, Daisy, and Chuck on winning. And congrats to Daisy for the chairmans award. Hope to see you in atlanta.

We made sure to get a team picture with him on Saturday... we're still not sure if he liked the attention or if he thought we were insane.

This was my last year as a student on a team and Philadelphia was a great way to end those 8 years (FLL and FRC). Everyone had amazing energy. Our rookie year, team 467 came down to Philly, and all the coaches were wicked excited about coming back.

Congrats to everyone who competed, expecially Miss Daisy, Moe and Chuck 84, you guys were amazing.
Thanks to 1511 who cheered with us and was a huge help getting our team to cheer for something other than the ball randomizer.

I'm leaning more towards insane :D

He was really cool - fun to chat with waiting for our matches to start.

Yeah, I do have to say, that when scouting you shouldn't look at rank, you should look at the robot and how good it is. We were just unlucky and had 3 straight matches where out alliance partner and/or partners didn't work and also got matched up with the wrong teams. But hey, it happens, it's luck of the draw.

I honestly have to say that I do not know how or even why we got choosen. But, I do have the thank Miss Daisy and MOE for choosing us and allowing us to win back to back titles in Philly.

See you in Atlanta!
Psst, we quite possibly might have a couple upgrades up our sleeves.

We had long discussions about third partners. We felt we wanted a team that had the possibility to hurdle, but could also play awesome defense. We knew that Team 84 is a team you can work with and a team that will do exactly what they say they will do. We know you guys are tough, smart, team players.
I think that is all you can ask for in a partner. We were honored to be able to return the favor and pick you this year. Thanks for picking us in 2007!

Re: 2008 Philadelphia Regional!

Philly was once again a great regional! Thanks to everyone who volunteered to make the event special again this year.

Congrats to Chris and Joe Troy on the volunteer and Woodie Flowers awards. Very well deserved.

Special congratulations to Miss Daisy, Team 341, on their Chairman's Award win. You guys do it all. Keep it up and best of luck in Atlanta.

Congrats also to The Firebirds, Team 433, on their Engineering Inspiration win. You guys have worked hard for a long time. Way to go!

All of MOE 365 wants to thank Daisy (341) and Chuck (84) for a terrific alliance against some amazing competitors (102, 272, 834, 809, in addition to the alliances we faced in the QF and SF). Those finals were nailbiters!

I also want to say that we experienced a great FIRST moment this past weekend. Rookie team 2558 needed some significant assistance to get their bot on the playing field. Many teams, including mine, teamed up to provide resources during the whole competiiton to get 2558 running. One of the best moments of Philly for me this year was being in the stands the first time 2558 came onto the field (they had missed all of their practices and a few of their early qualification matches). Their first match out, they almost crossed a line. Just to see their bot moving and the students so excited to be operating it made me realize once again why we are all here - to inspire. Great job 2558! Use the network you made this weekend to establish a solid robotics team. We look forward to being your partner on the Philly playing field in 2009!

I grabbed a VHS copy of the FIRST video feed and will put some of the videos online when I get the chance.

Take care, everyone. For those heading to Atlanta, best of luck. Otherwise, see you in the off-season! (Duel on the Delaware, Ramp Riot, PARC)

Re: 2008 Philadelphia Regional!

Philly was truly trying for us. Whatever could break on the bot DID break on the bot. We got all electrical issues figured out from VCU only to have a pneumatics sensor go bad, an encoder wire go bad, and our "upgrade" for our fork lift fingers just simply not work well at all. It makes us wonder if we've stretched ourselves too far with what we're doing in our community and how many new things we've tried this year on the bot. Pneumatics, shifting transmissions, 3-stage elevator, removable electronics board, pre-designed battery mount, are all new to us and all have caused us big problems :(.

That said, we will still go headstrong into Atlanta. After a rest we'll rebound and are already planning how to spend our fix-it windows to resolve these issues. The thing that impressed me the most about Philly was the energy of the crowd and the proactive helpfulness of the other teams at the event. It was very encouraging.

A special thanks to MOE for their spare pneumatics switch as well as keying a sprocket for us, the staple gun, and alot of other "small" things that made a big difference. A special thanks to REX for lending us so many things on Thursday while we tried to organize our chaos without our leadership there to direct everything. And many, many thanks to the many people that made Philly run very smoothly. Finally, a thanks to the two final alliances for that spectacular performance in the 2nd finals match that ended up 114-116. Literally, the entire field was on fire with action for a full 2 minutes, from hurdling to defense to racing around. Simply put, it was incredible.

This is the absolute best part of FIRST, If I were to start a team, MOE, you would be one of the FIRST teams I'd model our team after. I hear so many wonderful things about your team and your website is so helpful, it's is basically a blueprint on how to get up and running.

Some teams may have different priorities, some teams feel if they don't win the regional, that the experience was a failure. I know it can be disappointing if your robot doesn't function well, but maybe the kids learn more about life lessons then they would would if thier robot's won everything and performed flawlessly for the weekend.

Thank you MOE for being a Leader in FIRST and in LIFE.

Congratulations to all of the teams on an amazing competition. A huge thank you to all of those, who work all year to make this such a great event.

I must say that it was one of the greatest, most rewarding, and most emotionally unusual experiences I have had in nine years of FIRST. I felt truly blessed and honored to work along side such a prestigious line-up of Judging staff.

Congratulations to Miss Daisy, MOE, and CHUCK for their Regional win! Best wishes to all of you at CE, and Best Wishes to Miss Daisy for CE Chairmans!!!

I've done some checking, and learned that Miss Daisy and Chuck are the only two teams to win successive Philly Regionals!!!

Thanks, Moe, for helping us do it.

Does anyone know of any two teams who have won consecutive regionals together?

103 and 25 have won the past three New Jersey regionals together.
1251 and 86 won the past two Florida regionals.
254 and 60 have won together multiple times in the past.
1114 and 2056 have won five tournaments together (2007 Waterloo, 2007 GTR, 2007 IRI, 2008 Waterloo, 2008 GTR).
And others.

I have to say one of my absolute favorite GP moments was when we had to go up against you guys, whom we had been cheering with all weekend, and we all started chanting things like "purple alliance" and "way to go teams" as opposed to red or blue or our team numbers. That to me was the epitome of GP & team friendship!! I think the funniest thing was when I first started hearing our teams chant purple alliance, I was confused... there were no purple robots on the field!! lol. Then I got it.. and realized we all got it... :D

I've watched 103 and 25 work together the last 3 years at NJ. Its very impressive.
