2008 Great Lakes Regional

From the list given, It seems like there are a LOT of teams that have decided to not come back this year. I still think the top teams come to this regional, so maybe there will be even more teams soon.

Mat,

Wait until second regional sign up. I think that GLR will be a second regional choice for a lot of teams.

1023 will be making an appearance again this year...maybe it will be finally time for us to get a regional win under our belts, lol. We did win the MARC off-season event this year though :)

Sadly, 57 won't be returning this year. We'd really like to, but with the weekend change, GLR is now back to back with Lone Star, so we just can't attend. If things work out next season, you can bet we'll be back.

I agree with Beth, I think a lot of teams will be looking at GLR as their 2nd regional. With the larger number of teams, they thought it best to lock in a smaller regional as the first choice.

One thing that will probably hurt some is that GLR is the same weekend as GTR - some of our Canadian friends will likely be missing.

Gary's right. Team 1114 will not be returning to GLR in 2008, because of the scheduling conflict with GTR. For the past two years we've thoroughly enjoyed competing with some of the best teams in FIRST in Ypsilanti. The event is well run, with a great group of volunteers. We definitely will miss it. Hopefully the schedule will permit us to return in 2009.

461, 1646, and 1747 (The Purdue teams) made this our first registered event. Judging by the caliber of teams already registered and what I've heard about GLR, this should prove to be one fierce regional. We're looking forward to meeting all the Michigan teams and wish everyone the best of luck.

Team 326 really wanted to make Great Lakes our first pick. He want to try to put that regional away like we attempted to last year. The competition was so firece and making in later in the year... will make trhe robots even stronger (most teams will have fixed the bugs by then.) It will be exiciting to see what other teams decide to throw there hat in the mix... but i know it will be great.

Being that the GLR was in the first week or so, it was customary to normally have the teams progress and to get them better by the times eliminations came around. With it being in the later bracket of regionals, i see that tthis wont happen and it will be full force for the whole competition. Im VERY excited, and this year i can go as a mentor :)
