You have died and are in limbo. There are two paths. One leads to Heaven, and the other to Hell. In front of each path is an imp. On of the imps always lies, while the other always tells the truth. If you can only ask one question, what one question can you ask that will guarantee you know which path leads to Heaven, and which leads to Hell?

Zyik 14-11-2007 20:49

Re: Riddle Game!

Ask one imp which way the other imp would say to go to get to heaven. Then take the other path.
The lying imp would point to the path to hell, the oppisite of what the truthfull imp would say. The truthfull imp would also point to hell, as that is where the lying imp says heaven should be.

A boy was at a fair and went to a booth where a man said to the boy, "If I write your exact weight on this piece of paper then you have to give me $50, but if I cannot, I will pay you $50." The boy looked around and saw no scale so he agrees, thinking no matter what the carny writes he'll just say he weighs more or less. In the end the boy ended up paying the man $50. How did the man win the bet?

Check Post #2. (although I forgot the "eat it" line)

Punctuate and capitalize the following so it makes sense:

Time flies. I can't. They're too fast! (As in... get out your stopwatch and time a fly...) Note: "I can't, they're too fast." or "I can't; they're too fast." would also be correct.

I'm pretty sure the answer is wheels on a car. There are two on the left, two on the right. They move around in a circle, but even when they're moving they're attached to the car.

At a recent team meeting, a mother dropped by wanting to get her children involved in FIRST. I asked her how many kids she had.

"I have three children," she answered.

"How old are they?"

"Well, you get 72 when their ages are multiplied, but you get the number of people in this classroom when they are added."

"Hmm, I think I need to know a little more before I can tell their ages," I replied.

"Oh, of course. My oldest loves apple pie."

How old are the children?

A large truck is crossing a bridge 1 mile long. The bridge can only hold 14000 lbs, which is the exact weight of the truck. The truck makes it half way across the bridge and stops. A bird lands on the truck. Does the bridge collapse?

Taylor 02-12-2007 08:24

Re: Riddle Game!

No, for two reasons:
1) If the truck is exactly halfway across the bridge, it is more than likely centered directly above a pylon - one of the bridge's strongest points. As long as it stays there, no difficulties should arise.

2) Given current technology and fuel efficiency, I would speculate that in a half-mile, a 14,000-pound truck has used at least a bird's weight of fuel, making it below the weight limit.

I believe the correct answer (correct me if I'm wrong) is a mitt (like a baseball mitt?).

A circle within a circle within a circle, what am I (not a target)?

[EDIT] KoulFireChick, I am sorry, that is not the answer I am looking for (good guess though). [/EDIT]

So far no one has guessed the answer to my "circle in a circle in a circle". The correct answer would be the moon (orbits).

I think I get it
The wind blew somewhere else.
Now 'the tree' could mean a different tree too.(?)

When I asked her how old she was, she smiled and said cryptically: "The day before yesterday I was 22, but next year I'll be 25." What is her birthday and when was the date of our conversation?

A man told his son that he would give him $1000 if he could accomplish the following task. The father gave his son ten envelopes and a thousand dollars, all in one dollar bills. He told his son, "Place the money in the envelopes in such a manner that no matter what number of dollars I ask for, you can give me one or more of the envelopes, containing the exact amount I asked for without having to open any of the envelopes. If you can do this, you will keep the $1000." When the father asked for a sum of money, the son was able to give him envelopes containing the exact amount of money asked for. How did the son distribute the money among the ten envelopes?

She was born on the 31st of December. The conversation was on the first of January.

On the 30th of December (the day before Yesterday), she was 22. Yesterday, she was 23. This year, she turns 24. Next year, she turns 25.

After two brothers cleaned their shed, one had a clean face, and one had a dirty face. Why, then, did the clean-faced brother wash his face while the dirty-faced brother did not?

The contents of the ten envelopes (in dollar bills) should be as follows: $1, 2,4, 8, 16, 32,64, 128,256, 489. The first nine numbers are in geometrical progression, and their sum, deducted from 1,000, gives the contents of the tenth envelope.

We have two simultaneous riddles, so I'll take one out of the way.

Tom's mother had Nickel, Dime, Quarter, and Tom.

The other riddle is up for grabs.

Not having a mirror handy, the clean-faced fellow looked at his brother's dirty face and assumed his face must be dirty as well. The dirty guy, on the other hand, saw his brother's clean face and assumed he must have been at the peak of hygiene.

Teeth (not white horses, the red hill is your tongue)

You are walking along a path and find a fork in it one way leads to an endless pit the other leads to a perfect civilization. There are two brothers standing at the fork (one standing in front of each path). One of them always lies and the other always tells the truth. You can only ask them one question to find out which path leads to the civilization. What question do you ask?

If you were in Michigan, and bought a $5.99 CD, and payed for it with $6.00, what would you get back?

Taylor 03-02-2008 16:47

Re: Riddle Game!

You'd get a confused look from the cashier for not paying your sales tax.

In the previous one, not only would you ask which path the brother would say, but you take the opposite to safety.

A securely blindfolded man takes off his hat and places it on a barrel. He then turns around, walks 100 paces, turns around again and shoots a hole clean through his hat. Nobody has given him direction, nobody has removed his hat, he's got no aiming aids, and he never took off the blindfold. How did he do it?
