That's HUGE!!!

And matching colors, I might add. You must be really good if NASA tries to make its robots look like yours...

That thing is truly massive. It didn't look nearly as large in the other pictures I saw of it, due to nothing to reference it's scale against.

That is truly beautiful. I loved the contrast visible in the pictures where the payload bed is suspended and then lowered to the ground. And a 6,000 kg lunar payload :yikes:.

I've always liked vehicles with the wheels outside the main body.
Idon't know why...
But with most cars these days you won't get that.
Gotta settle for looking at rovers or other off road vehicles to indulge myself in that area of design beauty.

This is sexy! (And I don't even like gold as a color lol) :p
Nice one NASA.

SWEET!

Wow NASA sure has huge budgets... each of the six wheels has a pair of 3hp brushless motors, a two speed transmission, a brake, and a differential... $$$. Very very cool... I wish we could see the bolt on cab that goes with it!

Are they seriously considering building a moon base? That sounds soooo 2001! :ahh:

That would be totally sweet if you could bring in your 08' bot at LSR on Chariot

Why does NASA make so many things gold? Does it have something to do with cosmic radiation? Or does it just look really cool :D

But seriously... I'm sure there's a very practical reason.

Radiation is right, but it's infrared. Gold happens to have a useful combination of characteristics, including reflecting away a lot of infrared "heat" that could otherwise be a problem in a sunlit vacuum. Another useful feature of gold: you need only an extremely thin layer of it to do the job.

Funny...I just heard about Chariot yesterday when I went to a lecture where they spoke about some of the new JPL projects.

Also chack out ATHLETE and the Mars Science Laboratory. They have some really cool features on those...
