Re: Oregon Regional 2008
Hello everyone,
This is the driver and captain of Team Kika Mana (368) and I would like to take this time to thank both Team 1540 and Team 1280 for being such excellent alliance partners. We would like to thank Team 1540 for choosing us first overall, out of the other 53 other possible teams. You had such an awesome hybrid mode which made up of about a 1/4 of our final score. Your holonomic wheels and your smart driving made for very effective defense against our opponents. We would also like to thank Team 1280 for somehow staying available for the last pick. Both 1540 and our team had you in our top picks and we could not believe it that you were available at the end. You had a solid, consistent arm that could place the trackball with ridiculous ease. Another team that we would like to recognize is Team 488. They are an all-around awesome team and we were more than happy to have them as pit neighbors. They also generously invited us to their lab when we made a stop in Seattle and we could not be more appreciative of them for hosting us. Team 473, Team 2046, and Team 2374 were a strong alliance to face in the finals. They truly gave us a run for our money and pushed the finals to three. And finally, thanks to all the judges, referees, volunteers, and teams in Portland for making the Oregon Regional so great. John Paik (By the way, we have video of our elimination matches here. Re: Oregon Regional 2008
Hello everyone! I am from team 2192 (Dac Attack) And this was our second year in Robotics, and my first year. I have to say, this was the most amazing this I went to all year! I particularly loved the random dance sections!
I would like to thank team 847 (Phred) for putting out our computer (A school compie) when it caught fire (not kidding!) during a match. We feel very very lucky to have them as neighbors. (And the closest team to us). Our robot wasn't so fortunate though, the wired were crimped wrong and we ended up losing power because the impacts from hybrid knocked our connectors loose. When our robot was moving we were able to preform fairly well I believe. Our driver got really nervous though at times. Again, Phred had an amazing robot! I like the R2 esque-ness. |
