Re: 2008 Pittsburgh Regional
Congrats to 337, 357 and 2614 Pittsburgh regional Champions and 291 Pittsburgh regional chairmans Winners. And on a personal side w00t, 48 has back to back safety awards, one at MWR and now one at Pitt.
too bad they cut off the feed to the web cast, I was kinda hoping to watch the awards ceremony. |
Re: 2008 Pittsburgh Regional
Team 1708, Natural Selection would like to thank FIRST for allowing us to have an event in Pittsburgh.
To all of the volunteers and organizers, this was the best so far, thank you. To all of the Teams, gracious professionalism was the name of the game and Overdrive was the reason we competed. You were all great and we hope you will return next year for more. To our rookie teams, keep coming back. THANKS TO EVERYONE Mike Dischner |
Re: 2008 Pittsburgh Regional
The Pittsburgh Regional was awesome. In addition to being hosted by the University of Pittsburgh, which is know for its school of engineering, the Peterson Event Center at the University of Pittsburgh is a great facility...comfortable seating, good pit space and a nice variety of food concessions.
The competition featured a good mix of veteran teams, developing teams and rookie teams. The Pittsburgh regional will be one to watch as the local teams develop and the nearby veteran teams look towards Pittsburgh on the road to the FRC Championship event. Team 357 would like to thank 337 the Hard Working Hard Hats and 2614 - MARS, for being great alliance partners as we faced 120, 522 and 222 in the quarterfinals...1308, 1249 and 326 in the semifinals and lastly the powerhouse alliance of 375, 291 and 2544 in the finals. We are looking forward to Philly...good luck to everyone as the 2008 FRC season continues. |
Re: 2008 Pittsburgh Regional
Team 573 would like to congradulate the winning alliance of teams 337, 357 and 2614 as well as the finalist alliance of teams 375, 291, and 2544. You guys were great! Team 573 had a great time at Pittsburgh Regional and learned alot about the game and ourselves at the competition. We were honored to be selected by Team 2407 and are happy to have made it all the way to the semifinals. Also, on behalf of the team I'd like to thank teams 291 and 326 for the awards they gave us for fastest robot, your praise is appreciated and we would have loved to work with you guys. Last but not least congradulations to Team 291 for winning the Chairmans Award, hearing what your team accomplished there is no doubt in my mind that you guys earned it.
On a side note, Teams 375 and 357, we had alot of fun throwing up our numbers for you guys during the finals. Apparently, so did the camera men. |

The crowd noise (cheering, clapping, chanting, etc) was thunderous, in other words...just the right level for an FRC event!!! :D Can you imagine how confusing it would have been for the MC to announce an alliance of 357, 375 and 573? |
Re: 2008 Pittsburgh Regional
I loved how she carried out our flag during the finals, and for the record, that is exactly what our scouts wanted to happen. However, we were so hot that we ended up being grapped too quick to make that happen.

Re: 2008 Pittsburgh Regional
Well now that you guys won the Pittsburgh regional? How about you win the Philly regional with 816. Ha. see you guys there and grats on your win. My dad was really happy because he is from Upper Darby and loves the team.

Anyway, Thank you to team 375 for picking us for your alliance and 2544 for joining in the third round. Congratulations to teams 337, 357 and 2614 - those were some intense matches in the finals! On a related note, right after finals a member of team 357 came to me and said "hope to see you in Atlanta!"... little did I know that we'd qualify for Nationals no more than half an hour later with Chairman's Award. Now I can reply "we WILL see you in Atlanta!" |

Re: 2008 Pittsburgh Regional
Yeah in the little bit of the webcast that I saw I realized they mixed up 357, 375, and 573 quite a bit.

Re: 2008 Pittsburgh Regional
Well one day after the Pittsburgh Regional, the members of Team 326 would like to thank everyone one who worked at the Arena. Also we would like to give congrats to the Winning Alliance.
We fought you guys really hard and we hope their aren't any hard feeling 357 for the couple of times we knock you guys up on your back. Heat of battle and for our alliance (1308 1249 and of course 326) being all of our first time in the semi-finals we really wanted to take it home, but i thinksits good to know that we lost to the best. But, maybe we could try this again next year maybe? On another note, good job to all of the rookie teams and keep it up. 2618 we would like to say congrants to you on being ranknig 16th, after bulding your robot on thrusday. Also to all of those gonig to Great Lakes Regional, you should watch out 326 is coming back with a new surpise for everyone (besides a fast robot). |

Danny, the reason they did that is because from their stats it was hard to tell three such good teams apart. |
Re: 2008 Pittsburgh Regional
I know thats the reason. I just thought it was kinda funny. It gave me something to chuckle about.

Re: 2008 Pittsburgh Regional
Thanks to team 522 for picking us and 120 for being great alliance partners. Also congrats to teams 337, 357, and 2614 for eliminating us and then going on to winning the regional.
Thanks to all the teams we asked for various little odds and ends, a few coming to mind are 48, 291, 337 and 522! Thanks to the crew that made this regional run smoothly! On a personal note thanks to the fellow mentors and students of 222 who made this all come together. This was one of our most successful years in the shop. Our students have advanced so much that about 95% of the machining was done by them! The other 5% was stuff the students asked us mentors to help/do. |
Re: 2008 Pittsburgh Regional
The Pittsburgh Regional was incredible--thanks to all of the volunteers and staff for making this a great event!
To our friends of 291: Congratulations on your success, both as finalists and as Regional Chairman's Award winner. Sorry we won't see you at Buckeye this week to reform our winning alliance. See you in Atlanta! Congratulations to the other finalists (375 & 2544), as well as the Regional winners (337, 357, & 2614)--all of you were amazing compeditors! There were many excellent rookie teams at Pittsburgh--welcome to FIRST, and we hope to see you all next year! To our friends from 379: we both had success and a lot of fun despite our records--things can only get better at Buckeye. See you there! Finally, I have to congratulate our kids from team 48 on their hard work and dedication during a long weekend of competition. Your work on making safety and GP an integral component of who we are as a team has been outstanding--keep it up and don't stop!! |
