Space Academy FREE for Undergrad students

I am planning on applying for this, but I wanted to let the CD community know about this opportunity as well.

Quote:

Space Florida and the NASA / Florida Space Grant Consortium are sponsoring the Winter 2007 'Space Academy' for Technical Institute, Community College, College, & University undergraduates (18 years and older), December 13-18, 2007, at the Kennedy Space Center.

The program is 'free' to accepted students, who must be US citizens, in order to participate.

Shared hotel accommodation (excluding meals & incidentals) will be provided in Cocoa Beach, as well as transportation to and from KSC each day of the program.

Participants, under the guidance of Dr. Larry Chew / UCF, will take part in a range of 'hands-on' activities including scientific balloon launches, Robotics, and high powered Rocket payload building and launching.

Other activities will include site-visits to key KSC locations and instruction from both NASA and KSC Contractor personnel.

The graduating ceremony will be attended by a range of KSC employers, including NASA, Lockheed Martin, ULA, USA, and others. The students will have the opportunity to interact with these would-be employers and learn about Co-Ops / Internships, etc.
To Learn more about Space Florida and the Space Academy, go to their website

And the application is here

If any of you intend to apply, please let me know! I am not affiliated with Space Florida in any way, I just wanted to share an opportunity that I stumbled across.

I'd also like to reiterate that this opportunity only applies for Florida college undergraduate students, however I know Space Florida also often does events for k-12 students as well.

Blast, that seems like a lot of fun, but I'm not available those dates!

Let me guess: finals week? I might be interested, but I have two finals during that time period...

You're both kind of out of luck since you don't go to school in Florida
