2007 NFL Pick-em: Week 14

I hope the NFL does the right thing and moves the Thursday game to give the Redskins time to mourn AND prepare for the game.
And the way the Redskins payed tribute to Sean Taylor was awesome and was the greatest show of respect I've ever seen (intentionally playing with only 10 players on the first defensive play, if you haven't seen or heard)

R.I.P. Sean Taylor

I agree. I have the utmost respect for Sean Taylor. From what I heard he died trying to protect his girlfriend and 18 month year old son. What a tragedy. R.I.P.

Re: 2007 NFL Pick-em: Week 14

Any fan of the NFL who isn't for the Patriots wants to see them lose (maybe I'm just different because of 2004 . . . 2005 . . . )PS - I'm a Steelers fan. So I'm curious how people feel about any teams chances at beating this team. Anyone think they have a blueprint?

My Blueprint for beating the Patriots:

DEFENSE:
1.)Pressure Tom Brady. You'll need good defensive line so you can send more into coverage - so pressure with ends is crucial.

2.)Stop the run. The Patriots have a lack-luster running game, which gets more important as the weather gets colder. Make Tom pass the ball - and pressure him when he does.

3.)Play receivers physically. Double up on Moss and Welker as much as possible and zone the middle and flats to eliminate passing routs to the sidelines.

OFFENSE:
1.)Run the ball, Run the ball, Run the ball!!! Play physical up front and keep the defense on the field.

2.)Look down the middle. The Patriots cover the sidelines well but the middle can be exposed (evident in the Eagle game)

3.) Play action please. The patriots have older linebackers who tend to bite on play action. Do it well and you may have a big gain.

Basically do what the Eagles and Ravens did - but without the mistakes late they made.

Re: 2007 NFL Pick-em: Week 14

Ok so i see patriots bashing but no picks...

Hrmmm seems that people are so scared of the Pats going undefeated that they have to try to tell teams how to play on the CD forums.

Honestly, i'm pretty sure those head coaches can handle the calls on the field (that is why they get paid the big bucks.)

I'm more interested in your picks than a break down of how to be the Patriots (pretty sure right now anyone who has watched the last 2 patriots games could give you a clue as to how to beat them)

With that being said:

Thursday
Chicago at Washington

Sunday
San Diego at Tennessee
New York Giants at Philadelphia
Dallas at Detroit
Miami at Buffalo -> Yes i'm hoping Miama has a perfect season... a perfect 0 - 16 season. They should really just give up now and go for the #1 draft pick... they only need to lose 2 more and they could have it clinched :)
Carolina at Jacksonville
Oakland at Green Bay -> playing at Lambo, on a cold Sunday, with Farve as hot as ever...
St. Louis at Cincinnati
Tampa Bay at Houston
Minnesota at San Francisco
Arizona at Seattle
Pittsburgh at New England
Kansas City at Denver
Cleveland at New York Jets
Indianapolis at Baltimore -> Ravens came close this week, but they will take down the colts this time. They need to prove it to themselves that they can play with the big boys and this is where they make there stand.

Monday
New Orleans at Atlanta

I made my picks already - I was just explaining how I think future teams will take advantage of weaknesses of a really good team. They are beatable don't believe what the east-coast biased ESPN tells you!

Re: 2007 NFL Pick-em: Week 14

Chicago at Washington
For Sean Taylor.
San Diego at Tennessee
"Back to the basics" is working for the Chargers. Run LT, Play-Action Pass to Gates, blitz Shawne, and don't put the game in Rivers' hands.
New York Giants at Philadelphia
Feeley will be an easy target.
Dallas at Detroit
Cowboys are fired about comments from LAST year...
Miami at Buffalo
Dolphins for 0-16, this is their last chance: Baltimore, @ New England, and Cincinnati left on the schedule.
Carolina at Jacksonville
No chance for the Panthers
Oakland at Green Bay
With or without Favre, Pack should destroy the Raiders.
St. Louis at Cincinnati
Rams beat horribly bad teams (SF, NO, ATL), Cincinnati isn't one of those kind of teams.
Tampa Bay at Houston
Texans have no luck at finding a consistent QB.
Minnesota at San Francisco
With the Taylor-Peterson combo, Vikings should be playoff bound.
Arizona at Seattle
Home Team
Pittsburgh at New England
Shouldn't have made that guarantee. Like "Don't kick to Hester!", "Don't feed the Patriots' fire!". They're already fueled by spy-gate, the popular referee conspiracy, and the '72 dolphins' comments. Why add the guarantee to their reasons-to-run-up-the-score list, Anthony Smith?
Kansas City at Denver
Home Team
Cleveland at New York Jets
One-sided game
Indianapolis at Baltimore
Colts have better balance on offense than the Patriots, so last week's game-plan and passion isn't going to work against Manning and Company.
New Orleans at Atlanta
Though I like Chris Redman at QB for Falcons.

Not if their defense plays as poorly as it did today....

Thank you, San Diego. And as I say this, the waste of talent Derek Anderson throws a pick giving the Jets great field position. Time for Brady Quinn - bench this loser and get your 1st and 3rd picks for him next year. Don't let him keep playing and destroy what little interest other teams have for him as a restricted free agent.

What a dork.

EDIT.....and now an onside kick gives the Jets a chance to win (typical result would be that they do - Browns are great at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory) - what a horrible team. Some city can steal this franchise too. Maybe 3rd time's the charm.....

I wasn't able to see the whole game but I did catch some of the last quarter [Texans game was on], but I think Dallas can work on that and get it under par for Feb.
