Re: 2008 Boilermaker Regional

Mr. D just returned my laptop to me today, and I've just started copying the DVD footage of boilermaker onto hard disk. Depending on how much time I have, I may be able to get some stuff on youtube or somewhere else before I leave for cleveland (with luck).

I might just post the ISOs if I can't get them over to wmv in time... provided I can find webspace for them.

Thanks guys,

-q

He has 4 DVD+R (approximately 12g between the 4 disks). They contain all day Friday and Saturday.

Do you have any idea what size the files will be from the 4 disks?

As I type, there are four computers each handling one of the dvd's. They've all completed the ISO copy and are now converting the ISOs into 91mb *.wmv chunks.

These chunks are just under 10 minutes long to facilitate YouTube posting. For now, this is the way i'll most likely be getting them online. I'll have to come up with some sort of naming convention so you all can access them.

They are not organized by match (Sorry, that would take waaaay too long to do :o ) but they will be in ~10minute chunks running in chronological order starting friday morning.

The computers should be done with all the conversion work by about noon tomorrow, but I'll be in school so I won't be able to get back to them until later in the afternoon. Then, i'll load up the good ol YouTube batch uploader, and let er rip. ECU (company I work for who is graciously allowing me to use some of their computers to convert the video) has a DSL connection that's pretty quick, so, I'm guessing the upload should (hopefully) be done by around noon wednesday, depending on how cooperative YouTube is and all that.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks,

q

I hate Rapidshare. It's so impractical. 100 meg limits and 60+ minute wait times (depending on where you live) between downloads? No thank you. If I wanted to distribute such a large files, I'd upload a torrent of each disk to The Pirate Bay or another free tracker and seed it. It's by far the easiest and fastest way to distribute large files (save an FTP, but those things get expensive).

Update:

The first three chunks (first half hour's worth) are uploading.

It'll be a little while (hour or so) before they show up on YouTube, but here's the naming convention.

When you search youtube, all the videos use the tag "BMR08", so put that in your search first.

After a space, pick what video part you want to watch. There are four sections (the four discs). These are "friam", "fripm", "satam", "satpm" for friday morning, friday afternoon (aka friday disc 2), saturday morning, saturday afternoon (aka saturday disc 2).

After another space, pick which of the clips you want to watch from that disc. They are two-digit, the first video for a section would be "01".

For example, if I wanted to find the first video of the day for friday I would search:

"BMR08 friam 01"

Again, the first half hour is uploading now. Some of the first half hour is pretty pointless friday since for part of it no teams were even in the room and there is no audio, but I know that sections 2 and three from friday morning have the opening thing with the Purdue choo choo (yes, choo choo :] ) and all.

Hope this all works...

Great job! Thanks for doing this!! It will save burning many disks.

Anybody remember which match had a Trackball ball land on the Overpass right after another one got knocked off right when time expired? That is a match to highlight.

Also, the dancing mascots. The mascot from the Digital Goats was in his groove for that one.

The first elimination? 931's glorious shot with two seconds left? That shot is burned into my memory because it's so awesome.

Yep, it was the first quarterfinal match. I remember seeing our placed trackball get knocked off unexpectedly (I couldn't see 931 behind our robot) and I just thought WOW!
