Comments on the Logitech steering wheel with pedals
 

Excuse the lack of motivation on hunting for rules on this, but I looked today at gamestop on a logitech momo steering wheel with manual shifter and pedals.
I wonder if it will ever be "legal" to use the pedals to accelerate the robot like driving a car.

Teams have used wheels and pedals.... Can't remember who but I remember seeing one in Atlanta... They fall under the same catagory as the DDR pad that you can use to control your robot with.*

As long as it is powered by the OI, legal. We've used them in the past, though not with steering wheels.

They work well its just hard to use standing up. Maybe nix the pedals....

We used a steering wheel one year before the USB doodads came out. I happened to have a game port one at home. We could have used the pedals, but the steering wheel also had paddles that we used instead. As King said, pedals are hard to use standing up especially considering the drivers have to sometimes shift their positions during the game to get a better view.

that's a good point about the use of paddles which the steering wheel comes with. thanks for the specific Eric about the legal powering method.

The 'Chickens used a steering wheel back in 03 I think it was (actually had both a wheel and joysticks, depending on the gameplay). The "truck" style driving worked very well with the crabs they had set up.

I missed championships that year when our team, team delphi, and yours were in an alliance in the playoffs. Too bad. Would've been nice to see.:D
