Team 1089 Mercury is also doing a presentation and perhaps a demo inside our local theater.

We are supposed to have table, and, are putting up a display board, handing out brochures about our team and what F.I.R.S.T. is about.

We also plan on having this years robot on display, with perhaps some form a demo, perhaps letting some the kids drive it a little or some such. And we'll be giving out "Future 1089 Member" buttons to the children along with some of the other buttons we have left.

Of course we'll be there to explain, teach, enlighten, and excite anyone who's interested as well as promoting the values, goals and ideals of F.I.R.S.T.

We too missed out on IRON Man and Transformers. Even though those movies were for an older crowd. We are hoping to inspire the new, younger and future ones here at this opportunity.

Usually there is more than one (though for Pixar movies there seems to be only one).

I talked to the managers at local theaters and they said it would get too crowded. Well this sucks... :(

Team 811 is doing presintations all weekend using robots from past years. We have one doing a live presintation. One sitting outside the theater waving. Also, one shoot balls to little kids in the parking lot. I'm excited....

Re: WALL•E

Just came back from seeing the movie. It was VERY well done. The first 20 minutes is probably the best 20 minutes of any animated movie in history. It's a beautiful, well crafted movie that never loses its heart even when its commentary on the future human "evolution" is rather harsh and biting.
This movie gets an "A" from me.

Amazing movie, I LOVED IT!

I did find some of the themes to be a bit depressing.

But wall-e and EVE are so CUTE! (Did I really just say that????) :D

To everyone here go see it. If you like 2001 space ody you will love this.

Any movie with a unicycle in it has to be good, eh? :)

Wow, this sounds quite positive. Well, I'm going to see it tomorrow, and now I feel like I can't wait even more than before... :(

I need to go back and look at the motions more closely, but I believe that I counted at least 42 discrete controlled degrees of freedom in the design, not including the passive motions (and if that number proves to be correct, I am tempted to think that it probably is not an accident; perhaps a nod to Douglas Adams?).

.

The Disney animatronics booth at Maker Faire had an (almost) fully functioning WALL•E. I believe it was an early prototype of a toy that might be released sometime in the future. Needless to say, it was VERY impressive.

Now how would I go about coaxing our friends at Dreamworks to make a robot movie..... :)

I saw it this afternoon with my girlfriend. Even if you can only catch the $1,618-a-ticket evening show, it is money well spent.
