WALL•E

I was visiting some folks at Pixar last week (yeah, it is just as cool as you might imagine - about the closest thing to nirvana that there is for an animator), and heard a little more about their new film coming out next summer. I have been a huge fan of John Lasseter's work since I first saw "Andre and Wally B" from the 1984 Siggraph, and Luxo Jr. soon thereafter. Wandering through the halls at Pixar and seeing some of their latest work (like the original artwork from Ratatouille) was a real thrill - and the cereal bar was amazing!

Anyway, the new film is "WALL•E" and it looks like it is going to be a lot of fun - and it is about ROBOTS!!! If you have not seen it yet, Pixar has released the second movie trailer (the first one has been out since mid-summer). There is a streaming version of the WALL•E trailer on Slashfilm and another copy on Yahoo Movies

I can't wait!

WALL•E Looks to be a very cool movie.
I know Koko Ed has mentioned it many times here on CD and I know I'll be in line to see it when it opens for sure next June.

Side Note: Dave... Visiting Pixar? Getting some help on the game animation this year maybe? Does this mean you won't be using your WHOLE Christmas break working on it this year? But isn't that part of a tradition by now for you? :ahh:

Dave talking about Pixar this time of year? It can only mean one thing: there will be a Pizza Planet truck somewhere in this year's animation.

Hmm, dave just posted. Another game clue perhaps? Let's tear apart every word of it... :D Just kidding, sounds cool. Even better than a Pixar game animation would be if they featured FIRST-built robots in this new movie!

Or maybe Dave's just trying to sneak the small Blue Robot into the movie...

It deserves something worthwhile; that poor robot gets the short end of the stick in every game animation.

Swell, I think I'm ahead of my kid for a change. I wonder how long it will last.

I think Dave's just trying to point out that this year's game piece will be a desk lamp.

A desk lamp that thinks it is a hammer.

I noticed that, poor thing! Although if it's dave putting it in there, I'm sure he won't go easy on it...

If the championships were still at Disney I would bet a seasons worth of entry fees that Disney would have a Wall-E replica making rounds at the event and maybe even going as far as participating in matches.
Never underestimate the Disney advertising machine. You need to look no further than the amazing popularity of Miley Cyrus to see that.

Somthing that can tell a little more about the movie (not really i guess) is the fake website that pixar put up, it recently popped up on boing boing.net because of its hilarious EULA...

Well, the trailer makes it look like an adorable movie! The robot reminds me of the Short Circuit robot... especially when it hits the bug... disassemble...

Thanks for the link, Andrew. I'm browsing through the laughable amount of content and it's overdose of Flash right now!
