2008 Colorado Regional
Team 1158 would like to wish all teams a happy holiday and a very successful 2008 robotics season. See you all in March.
|
Re: 2008 Colorado Regional
This season's going to be awesome and what's going to make it more fun is a lot of the F.I.R.S.T. lego league kids are going to come as well and support their mentors and some of the Colorado F.I.R.S.T. Lego League teams are coming to do demos somewhere.:]
Hey, for those who know Team 1636 - Reds Robotics from Arvada High School, even though we aren't an active team next semester, you can find us joining Team 1799 - Dakota Ridge High School. Happy Holidays everyone.:) |
Re: 2008 Colorado Regional
Aw man that's a bummer. But, at least you're still on a team. :) Team 1619 Up-A-Creek Robotics looks forward to seeing you all there! :)

Re: 2008 Colorado Regional
Good luck from Team #1348 Kennedy Robotics.
Who is heading to Mines this weekend? Make sure you stop by and see us at Mines and/or the Colorado Regional and our 4 wheel car style steering, the brainchild of our mentor Ted of teamcosmos.com (battle bots, really cool videos to watch, check 'em out). Coach Jaz |
Re: 2008 Colorado Regional
Hey Jaz, you guys have a pretty sweet looking bot, everyone loved the bumpers, hope the tower is fixed.:)
Well scrimmage was hectic but next year it's going to go a lot smoother and be more organized because apparently last minute someone decided I was going to run actual matches and keep score, and aggh! Next year we do it my way and input about the scrimmage would help out on how to make it better next year would help as well.:ahh: Hope everyone's bot is looking good because I know I'm excited to inspect each and every one(or almost all of them) at the competition. It's going to be fun.:D |
Re: 2008 Colorado Regional
Good luck to everyone at the Denver regional!
We tried to come again this year, but the regional was full! and then they had to make room for more Colorado teams. so, this year were going to be at the Bayou (New Orleans) regional. 1583 and 1636 (now part of 1799), we miss you guys. hopw you rock the regional again! |

Re: 2008 Colorado Regional
Team 1592 can't wait to go to Colorado. We finally have an excuse to dig out our pants and non 90 degree weather clothes...lol.
We will be flying in on Tuesday the 24th, and going to play paintball that day. Then we are going skiiing on Wednesday, hopefully no one will get hurt this year...(last year we had a slight injury after going to Waterloo). It's probabilly nothing to you all but we have some members that have never seen snow! I myself first saw snow when we went to Waterloo last year. We have heard lots of great things about the Colorado regional and we wanted to join in the fun. Good Luck to all the teams and see you all in a few weeks! |

Re: 2008 Colorado Regional
Team 1158 has just returned from the San Diego Regional and boy what a tournament. We were involved in Match 45 (our alliance won 120-106) which was a real suspenseful match. I know Colorado will be just as exciting. Good luck teams.

2008 Colorado Regional Advance Scouting Report
If you're coming to this week's Colorado Regional how about giving the rest of us a scouting report to 'prime our pumps' so to speak. Team 1583 will go first. Our robot has a custom 6-wheel drive chassis that is geared 5 fps. Our strategy is to score 16 points in hybird by taking down a ball and crossing two lines. We can take the ball down on the move. Our bot is designed as a herder with a front end specially designed to facilitate pining the opposition's trackball against the wall. The competition's best hurdler can't score many points without the ball. :D We will drive laps (~5 ) if no hurdler to defend against. At the end of the match we are also ready to take down any oppossition balls left on the overpass. Come by Thursday and let's talk. Just look for the mentor with the orange mohawk. We're looking forward to meeting everybody and having a great time playing with all of you.

Day one is over. I hope everyone's robots are fully functioning for tomorrow's games! Good luck everyone.
|
Re: 2008 Colorado Regional
I'm really glad they got the scoring corrected from the practice matches to the qualification matches. But now I feel it is a lot more fun, Thursday seemed really boring and it almsot shaped up to be a horrible regional
|
Re: 2008 Colorado Regional
So what\'s the scoop going into tomorrow? Which Colorado teams are standing out? I miss being at the event and seeing the different teams we used to work with. Another thing that makes me miss Colorado while out here in little tiny New York.
How are 159, 662 and all the other Colorado teams looking? |
Re: 2008 Colorado Regional
Happy Birthday Aren! What a way to celebrate! Enjoy.

Re: 2008 Colorado Regional
we are rolling tape from all three days captured from the source field system we wanted to stream live but the problems were to much to resolve this year so we are just streaming the taped footage at http://www.justin.tv/vescodenver

Re: 2008 Colorado Regional
On behalf of Team 1625, Winnovation, I would like to thank teams 1592 and 1296 for their aid in securing a victory at the Colorado Regional. You guys worked hard, and played even harder. Also, congratulations to every team that made it to Denver. It was an awesome competition and hopefully one that we will be able to make it to again.
Oh Yeah! Special congrats to team 2083! You were one of our favorite bots there with your kevlar and aspirations to make a shooting hurdle. When you pulled the one off in the elimination rounds, I cheered louder for your team than I had all day for my own. |
Re: 2008 Colorado Regional
Had some trouble finding this thread, it finally got bumped :)
This regional was very interesting, with quite a few local teams the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Everyone seemed to know each other well, and the competition itself seemed to be secondary to making acquiantances and having some good old fun. Winnovation, your robot did an outstanding job. The finalist and Engineering Inspirational award was very well deserved, especially with your innovative drivetrain. We were very happy to have been on your alliance at least once, where we received the highest score in the regional. haha. Team Titanium was also another of our favorites. You guys did such a great job designing and manufacturing your robot, it's inspired us to use CAD software more intensively next year. Loved the robot booklet by the way, that was very helpful in understanding how exactly everything was implementated :) |

Thanks a ton Luchador. I remember being paried with you guys during a qualification match and you were a ton of fun to be with. On behalf of Team Titanium, 1986, I really want to congratulate 1625, 1592, and 1296. You guys performed extremely well and deserved to win the regional. I was honored just to be playing against you in the finals. A big thanks goes out to 1996 and 1348. You guys were a ton of fun and I was extremely glad we selected you. We put up one heck of a fight, but were still no match for the red alliance. |
Re: 2008 Colorado Regional
On behalf of Team 1592, the Bionic Tigers, I would like to thank teams 1625 and 1296 for being our alliance partners during the finals. You all were extremely nice when we were having electrical problems during the quarter finals. Its too bad we wern't at 100% but thanks to you all we still managed to achieve victory.
To teams 1986, 1996, 1348 and all of the other teams that were in the finals, you all put up a heck of a fight and made for some awesome matches. 1986 had a excellent move at the end of our 1st match to knock off the ball that we had placed on the bar. I thought the match was over then i see you sneak through some hidden hole and poke the ball out, that was a sick move and great driving! Denver was an excellent regional and I would love to come back. If any of you are going to Atlanta we'll see you there, if not then hopefully we will see you somewhere next year! |
