notice how there are craters on each side of this streaming ravine area? I wonder if there are going to be circle goals on two sides with some sort of line work/ribbon/pole deco between them.

BTW, best use of game hint ever.

Obviously we're going to have to build a robot that goes to mars

Isn't the suggested hint of the dry river bed between craters just simply magnificent?

I thought those were caused by Dave's robots moving back & forth so many times over the same spot... over 1400 Sols and counting.

Good thing NASA didn't buy the extended warranty.

Yes.

Or rather, No, not anymore, since Fed-Ex's sponsorship of Space Mountain in Walt Disney World ended in 2004/2005. :(

right under Argentina

Looks more like a flooding after a dam break, the amount of water (or whatever liquid it may be) overflowing the riverbank and scouring the surrounding plains. I remember seeing something on Nova about this, but I couldn't find a picture.

Maybe in April if we go to the Finals on Mars I can check this out....

Maybe it's actually a hit for 2009, when they'll be having the inaugural Mars regional.

Actually this is plausible. I heard from Robot magazine that NASA is hosting the X-Prize. It's for anyone who can send a rover to Mars.:)

Reminiscence of this thread maybe:http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...highlight=mars
Could FIRST be in contact with google?:D

Also championships will be pretty expensive to go to if it is on Mars; if its still in Atlanta, we have an issue with the playing field.

Maybe the championship (there is no "Nationals") playing field will be on Mars, but all the operator stations will be in Atlanta...

Maybe it is slip and slide.. You don't need tanks, but it had better be water-proof.

Maybe Mars University is sponsoring a team? And Planet Express will be the shipping company.

I did not know Google had a moon application.
Edit: Wait a minute, yes I did. I remember when it first came out, and you zoomed in all the way you saw what looked like green swiss cheese. LOL

Anywho...
A simple text replacement of Art's MARS url gives us nothing but another blank spot on another floating rock in the solar system.
Unless.... you happen to click on the "charts" tab that is, and then you have glorious names of blank spots on another floating rock in the solar system.

Actually, I believe they are. Two years ago, one (or both, I can't exactly remember) of the cofounders of Google spoke in Atlanta.

look at something really quick with me on this, this cooridinate is surrounded by one thing and one thing only flags, to be more exact american flags from the apollo missions, now did apollo 12, 14, 15 put down flags? because then it would be three to each side, (capture the flag anyone?)

Hmmmm... CTF, thats interesting. But generally you have to be able to get "out" and release the flag, let the other team bring it back to base etc. How would that work? The robots have to stay on the field the entire time.

here's how i'm going to break it down,

3-4 robots on each alliance at the start.
In the center of the field the is a pipe wall with flag holders on 3 racks that swing.
The flags can either be fed through the human player spot or picked out of the racks against the alliance's wall or from the floor, of course.
Each Alliance has their own special flag that can be captured from the zone.
The teams will be allowed to put one flag in the robots at the start for auto mode.
There are Red flags (score for red alliance), blue flags (score for blue alliance), 2 white flags (one to each team, which blocks the score from a whole rack of flags) and the main alliance flag which is bigger then the other flags. (blue/red)
Score in auto 10 points
Each individual flag is 5 points
Main alliance flag capture is 50 points
end of game: the alliances gets minus 2 points for ever normal flag (meaning not alliance and no white) besides the ones on the wall in their zone
alliance gets 50 plus points if their alliance flag was not captured.

One robot defends the zone, two offense or one defends, one blocks the other alliance and one offense.
