I call shenanigans. Our contact didn't get it, I'm going to bet no other contacts got it, and it's just silly and not properly formatted. Unless someone else steps forward REAL soon, this should be deleted. Also, last year's picture was linked off the FIRST site, not blasted to several thousand people who would have to forward it onwards, etc.

I'm a main contact and I didn't get this. The FIRST E-Mail Blast forum is to be used as an information source for official FIRST emails only. I'm moving this thread to Rumor Mill unless a more credible source (like the FIRST website) comes along.

Sorry if I'm reluctant to believe you but seeing as no one else seems to have gotten this hint, could you please verify this? A simple screen shot of the e-mail with the correct FIRST address will do.

If it was official there would be a 'Go Teams!' at the end. Every e-mail from FIRST I've seen has it.

Tip for next time you decide to be annoying: don't put your team number in. No matter that you think, having that team number and posting things like this reflects badly onto your team.

Also, if seeing people struggle makes you happy, you probably shouldn't have posted this here, as there was no struggling involved. Every single post was us calling you out on a bad fake attempt.

Laughs go in the Rumor Mill where this now is. Official FIRST communications go in the Blasts Archive. Would it be funny if someone posted a fake Blast that told teams ship date had been pushed back two days? Honestly, blatantly misusing forums should be bannable, but there are nicer people than I in charge here.

I dunno, I think it had potential to be a decent joke. Some lessons on execution from the masters of Chief Delphi pranks, John "Check out Andy's Ipod" V-Neun, Joe "Oops, I found out the game early" Johnson, and the creator of probably the most successful CD prank ever, Joe "Nationals Canceled?" Ross would probably have made it both funnier and more realistic.

EDIT:
Kevin, while I agree that it would have been better to put this in the rumor mill originally, I don't think that comparison is fair; kickoff is in a couple of hours and this is a false game hint. A fake ship date is a completely different thing.

As I said before, this thread should be treated as being closed. There are very few moderators who moderate the extra discussion forum, and as such clearly none are online. That is the only reason this thread hasn't been closed.

He thought he was playing a funny joke, and it wasn't funny... no need for people to further bash on/flame him. Just let this thread die a quiet death.

Luke, I realize it's a childish joke, but childish joke belong in Chit-Chat or the Rumor Mill or somewhere similar. Posting this in the Blast Archives and attempting to defend it repeatedly when it's obviously false is a malicious act even if it's "only" a fake hint. Mild forum abuse is still abuse. And his intent at this point and from the beginning by his own admission was to annoy people. Even Joe had the good taste to cancel nationals intelligently and in the Rumor Mill. And didn't bother lying to peoples faces when exposed.
