Transmission Query
Are we allowed to use transmissions not given in the kit? Or do we have to use the Andy-Mark ones given?

Re: Transmission Query
I'm not completely sure, so I would check the manuals if you have 'em. They usually outline these types of things pretty clearly.

Re: Transmission Query
we cant access the rulebook, due to the lag on the usfirst website, anything more specific would be much appreciated.

Re: Transmission Query
You can buy or manufacture a transmission from another manufacturer if it does not cost more than 400 dollars

Re: Transmission Query
Any suggestion as to the best transmission for under $400?

Re: Transmission Query
You also cannot use any parts from previous years that are no longer commercially avaliable.

Re: Transmission Query
You can use pretty much whatever you want (as long as it meets the cost and parts utilization requirements), but why don't you want to use the AM Toughboxes? You are going to have an extremely tough time making a better single-speed gearbox than the Toughboxes. If you want a two-speed then AndyMark sells very nice two speeds as well.

Re: Transmission Query
We're using the new BaneBots gearboxes, similar to the ones in the kit last year. They hardened the carrier plates and now use steel gears.
The toughboxes are too tall to meet our demands for our chassis. It's low to the ground and low profile, these will wind up sticking out too much, so we canned them. Besides I was impressed with the performance of the BaneBots ones last year. |
