They're the craziest teams out there, basically. Anybody got actual numbers for a record time of a bot (aside from one day that is, I mean a good bot).

ot:

On the subject of one-day-'bots, 675's built one. Except it was the day before ship, made from whatever we could scrounge up and built in a few hours. The downside? Well, it didn't work. I think it disintegrated, actually. I'll have to check with weaver though, I wasn't on the team at the time.

I remember at the Championship Event last year, there was one team who arrived to discover that their bot had accidentally been shipped home instead of to Atlanta. They joined forces with some teams from neighboring pits and built a brand-new robot which they used to compete- and it actually worked pretty well, too. I still can't believe they managed to do that- talk about some serious teamwork!

Must be heavy duty.

:) If you were talking about our robot, it was very heavy duty. it is extremely reliable and can withstand almost anything. even though it is photoshopped it can withstain the pressure!

Yeah, imagine trying to play the game with a photo for a robot...

The 2007 robot (the one that was altered in the picture) definitely would NOT be able to stand up to flying trackballs.

The robot we're actually working on for 2008 should be pretty robust.

Nice photoshopping. You fooled me!

Thanks... on behalf of Erik. It's funny, because I watched him do it, and to me the part of the picture that looked photoshopped was the trackball attachment to the vacuum... and I KNEW that was real because I was there when they took the picture. It's just so round and shiny, it looks unreal.

Re: Team 1124's new robot

So since a vacuum doesn't seem to be the way to go... what are other teams thinking for lifting the trackball? A "gripper", a "ramp", a "forklift" type device?

That's nothing. 177 can already cap vision AND shoot all 10 balls accurately into the goal.

Shoot 10 balls accurately into the goal? That sounds more like your 2006 bot when we played defense for you at the NE regional...

Except our shooter was broken constantly through that year :P. If I recall correctly, you were a good autonomous scorer, along with 176.

That was a good year.

If only we could go back to those days... just rebuild that robot.

Actually, at our meeting tonight our head mentor took out last year's robot and used the arm and the wrist as a giant claw to pick up the trackball, and started brainstorming ideas of how to use the concept of last year's robot to accomplish this year's task. Unfortunately, we need completely new ideas.

Billy, you weren't allowed to use ringer in autonomous, only keepers. And this year, we have hybrid mode. (-:
