About Frequencys on the Pit...
 

I would like to know if is allowed on the pit, use devices with 2.4 GHz Frequency, cause we get a sponsor and, it's want expose on the pit your product, that works with 2.4 GHx frequency...

I think that is allowed, because the Bluethooth Protocol's have this frequency, but I need yours help...

This is not an easy question to answer. Most people will use their cell phones and bluetooth at events both in the pit and in the stands. However, the power is usually low and the output fairly well filtered to prevent interference with other services. The product might produce interference that could affect the robot control but without looking at the product there is no way to tell. If you think it might produce some interference, you need to check with FIRST engineering before you power up.

Is it a wireless network system? They get extremely touchy about that.

Let me try to explain better...
The product is a wireless sound system, it's contain one transmiter and one recevier SOUND for automotive cases...and the power transmission is 0dBm (1 mW) ...

They use an transceiver usually used for SOUND (1.5 MBits per second) and it operate is 2.4 GHz...
Is a wonderfull sponsor, but they want that we install your product on the pit...


Do you think that these conditions, makes impossible to use??? =/

<R85> Any decorations that involve broadcasting a signal to/from the ROBOT, such as a remote , cameras, must be cleared with FIRST Engineering prior to the event and tested for communications interference at the venue. Such devices if reviewed and approved, are exclude from <R64>. Note that 900 MHz camera systems will not be approved, and are not permitted.

I would assume... based on this rule, that as long as it's not near the 900 MHz range.. it will be fine, and will not interfere with the radios.

..as for the sound system... as long as it's only broadcasting sound, and not playing loud music in the PITS, then I think it's OK. But, you may wan't to clear it with FIRST Engineering.

3.17 SITE RESTRICTIONS

"Do not play loud music in the Pit because it interferes with important announcements.
If a team receives more than a warning or two, the power to the team's Pit Station will be
shut off and/or the music confiscated."


So, if I listen the music with a low level, there is not restrictions, alright?

0dBm is a normal reference for audio levels so that specification is still suspect as to what it refers to. If the transmitter is only 0dBm output power, then there is likely no chance for interference. Another application for your sponsor's product would be to give it to the audio guys and let them use it to send signals to the remote speaker locations, again with FIRST approval. This sounds like a pretty cool device anyway.
