MPLAB?

We weren't given MPLAB in the kit, right? Does FIRST expect us to use easyC? Personally, I have no experience with easyC. Can you program just like you do in MPLAB, or are you limited to drag and drop?

Thanks!

Apparently you can now use actual text editing in EasyC (something I am very excited about!) No word on how to yet, haven't installed it :-(. I also don't know about MPLab, good question for the Q&A or related support from FIRST.

Yes, there is a text-editor in EasyC PRO; it was there last year as well.

Though if you like coding in a text editor environment, I would suggest downloading Eclipse and the WPILib toolchain. If you search these forums, you will find a variety of threads on these topics.

It's much faster to develop advanced coding using WPILib; last year Team 228's robot used closed-loop feedback for every system on our robot using an accelerometer, two gyros, two encoders, and an IR range sensor. Using all these sensors, we also created a fully closed-loop autonomous mode to do drive-by scoring on the rack - the only team in the nation to master not only scoring without stopping, but also while in autonomous.

Re: MPLAB?

I think you should have gotten MPLAB. In our KOP it was on a CD clipped to the microchip clipboard.

Good luck,

Greg

We also recieved MPLab in our KOP's so that would be an item you might be a part missing if you have not found it

Re: MPLAB?

more specifically, MPLab is in the electrical components box. if you can't find it, last year's version is the same.
