Hey Trav-O ... I should introduce myself. I'm your mentor programmer.

Both 294 and 973 seem to be right on schedule; Both have final or near final designs decided and have been cutting parts since Sunday.

1072's finals week lands right after kickoff every year. We're finishing up brainstorming right now :(

We are right on schedule. We're finishing up our prototyping of 2 good designs. On Saturday morning we plan to select which design to stick with. We have done no building - except i threw the kitbot together last night - and I feel that we aren't behind at all. I think it's key to have a very detailed design (Pro-E/CAD helps) before you start building (learned from experiences last year).

Well, I think we're doing okay. The upperclassmen decided what stragegy they want to pursue; after two years of playing "D" they want to go on the offensive and be a hurdler. We are planning on using the kitbot frame, as usual, and our standard 6-wheel drive system (although a little faster this year) and are putting our efforts into designing an effective hurtling mechanism. As always, the KISS principle rules supreme with us.

In terms of awards and paperwork stuff, we are WAY ahead just due to the simple fact that, for the first time, everything we did last year was well preserved. That means we have a huge jump on our submissions. And the p.r. person for our public school system is helping us with Dean's Homework; if you haven't contacted yours yet (if you have one; we're in a big inner city school district) I suggest it. They often have contacts with all the local media outlets; it can make your job a lot easier.

Good luck everyone, and have FUN!!!
:)

Still ahead, here. Chassis's built. Preliminary votes on the manipulator are today. Mounting wheels, transmissions, and getting the drivetrain fully functional over the weekend. Should have electronics mounted and programmed next week for driving.

the custom wheels are on the CNC mill as are the custom motor/gearbox mounts.

This is strange. We're waaaaaay too good this year to be the 675 we used to know...

I'm with 1886 (also known last year as the S.T.U.D.S)
Currently..... There is no schedule!:ahh:
Guess we cant behind then.

We got our frame done and are probably half way done with the electronics board. However, we have the laziest programmer in the world, so he hasn't started yet with any programming.
Hes great with hacking though. Last year he hacked the school computer system and wrecked it so now he's banned for life from the schools computers.:yikes:
Hopefully he gets here soon.

Well we are having Saturday practices already, but we should have the chassis and robot running now by tuesday! :-)

After one week, we're doing fine...we scheduled that we would almost start really designing the robot about now, and indeed we are ready to start designing it!

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

our team is doing quite a bit right now. Working on building the chassis and getting around the technical parts of it. As far as we've decided we're going with 2 speeds. A few of us are reading up on things but we're a little behind. We started the chassis yesterday like planned but it's not done yet and we're running short on time for day though we've got a good 3 1/2 hrs. We're still deciding USB steering wheel w/ petals or something else. We working on other stuff in the meanwhile and our programmers are moving well on learning new techniques. I can only saw we're slipping slowly behind.

We're just starting to build our frame. We've been spending the last week just throwing around ideas.

We are starting to prototype some of our designs, we just had a large meeting where we narrowed down a couple of key designs. we hope to start CADing today or tomorrow and start building by Tuesday.
