We're definitely a little behind. Not by much, a day or so, but still behind. Currently we're working on a new chassis, testing our IR board, and prototyping grippers.

IR board!!! Meh, I think that someone got pushed to the backburner for us. I'll bring it up...

we 1458 have been working hard the first week. We are protoing 2 manipulator designs and are debating rebuiliding our chassis or using an old one. Our electronics board is done without pneumatics and our programmers have been studying hybrid mode ideas.

Bleah.
Today, we suddenly said, "Wait...does this ball-holding mechanism actually work?" So we stuck one together out of some pvc, duct tape, and meter sticks, mounted it on our robot from last year, and test drove.

Utter failure.

So we spent the rest of today figuring out how the heck we were going to get this to work.

We think we have a solution, and we're testing it in two days.

But..wow, how the heck do you guys get everything done so fast? o.O

we are a tad bit behind because we ran out of Argon gas for the welder so i couldn't weld anymore and all work had to stop. Since I couldn't finish anymore stuff.

We had a catapult design that we tested today... didn't work too well. The numbers we ran made it look like it should work, but it didn't. What it ended up being was a lot of fun (we tested with bricks, water jugs, and soda cans), but it just didn't accelerate fast enough to throw the ball very far. Unfortunately, the testing eventually destroyed the catapult. So, we are now behind, I think. Back to "square two" as a team member termed it.

We get stuff done so quickly (well, most of us anyways) 'cause we're either basing our design off of previous ones, starting building the chassis right when we decide it's layout (as opposed to the grabber, we start everything as soon as possible), etc.

Our team got knocked off of our pace. One of our mentors didn't realize the error that one of our members made in the drawings and set us back a few hours.

Ya so today some people cut all the extruded aluminum 1/16th or an inch to short... that kinda slowed us down... :-(

Hey Coach! I'm just now reading this thread. It sounds like you guys are doing just fine! Good luck w/your design/build.

Yea for rookie teams!

Well we have a chassis all the base electrics are done and programming have a manipulator and are working on finesse. Mainly getting the gyro to optimal efficiancy, first year of first is a charm!

I guess it is all relative........

We are about 2 weeks ahead of schedule from last year but it looks like we are 2 weeks behind others posting to this thread
We'll be fine as long as the parts that we are ordering come in at a timely fashion.

Main chassis built
Many of the programming bugs worked out
Lifting mechanism assembled but needing power
All prototypes built, checked and approved.

You don't already? Almost every team I know utilize weekends. It's practically essential to the schedule. But there are exceptions which prohibit some teams.
