Re: Question:What strategy are you going to use?

My team has the awsome advantage of starting a week late. why? Because we are a boarding school, and we all return on the 13th of january. Our strategy is to wait untill some of the notoriously decent teams at our regional event have started to build, then ask them what sort of robot they would like to see on thier final aliance. Then build it.

This is the only "good" I can see coming out of this late start. Now to e-mail all the teams at the Kansas City regional!

Re: Question:What strategy are you going to use?

Our strategy is to score more points than everyone else at the regional, and failing that do prove ourselves as a true team player that can bring a ton of value to any team out there :) As for the specifics... you'll just have to wait and see!

Fast driven hurdler, with an option to place a trackball on the hurdling.

Re: Question:What strategy are you going to use?

Ours is pretty simple; do everything, and do it fast. Simplicity on the far side of complexity is wonderful!

Re: Question:What strategy are you going to use?

1. Robot moves 10 fps @ 11.5 volts:)
2. Robot can bump ball off goal
3. Robot can put ball back:D
We are going to build in that order so no matter what we can compete.

So you don't want those 8 points?

<G09> During the HYBRID PERIOD, each TRACKBALL that is removed from the OVERPASS (i.e. completely removed from its initial TARGET LOCATION and not in contact with any portions of the OVERPASS) at the end of the HYBRID PERIOD will earn 8 points.

Re: Question:What strategy are you going to use?

our plan so far is to be fast really fast, have some way to remove a trackball from the overpass, and finally hurdle the trackball at high speed

here's a strategy: get a chicklit, get a n64 controller, and get your star mariocart enthusiast behind the wheel

Re: Question:What strategy are you going to use?

yeh i like that cus if we did that i would be driving Ya for wasting time playing N64

I think we are running a bot that can go fast herd and hurdle with the ability to knock the ball don and put it back up at the end:D

Re: Question:What strategy are you going to use?

Strategy: Attempt to win every match. Failing that, get picked by the dominant team at the regional.

(Hey, it should work...assuming that one or the other happens.:D)

Re: Question:What strategy are you going to use?

8 points is 8 points. If the Hybrid works, we will take it. If not, we will zoom around the track as far as possible in hybrid and cross lines to get points. We might also want to get out of the way of a more capable alliance partner and let them knock the ball down.

Re: Question:What strategy are you going to use?

if our robot is anything like our robot last year ( and as long as this year it works...:( ... then we should be able to reach up to 15 miles an hour and in addition with our mecanum wheels, we should be able to out maneuver the other teams.
We'll try to knock the ball out during the autonomous mode to get early points then for the rest of the match use our speed and control to our advantage.

P.S. last year we took out some of the tiling on the walls of the cafeteria with our robot. call it.... destructive art

Re: Question:What strategy are you going to use?

MARS is still debating what method to use, but we're pretty much set with hurling the ball over the overpass. We're drawing up a way to push the ball off during hybrid mode. We've also decided that the 10 points from hurdling the ball then passing the finish line is good enough at the end of the match, so we're not making a way to put it back on the overpass.

Our main source of ideas on how to get the ball over tends to be siege weapons...

Re: Question:What strategy are you going to use?

We are using a combonation of hurdeling/ speeding around the track. This is getting really difficult because it seems like you have to choose between one or the other. It would be a miricale if we manage to succsessfully do bolth. It seems like we are leaning more towards hurdeling right now.
