Team 1527 Official Chassis Design!!!!
We still don't have a arm design in CAD but should come along sometime in the next day or so but here is our official design for the chassis and electrical/pneumatic placement (at least for the most part).
Tell me what you guys think :) ![]() Click to Enlarge |

Re: Team 1527 Official Chassis Design!!!!
we are milling our own 4in ones

Re: Team 1527 Official Chassis Design!!!!
i love how the electronics and transmissions fit together as to waste no space. That shows excellent communication between design groups that i know my team wished we had. Nice setup, very space efficient. I'm anxious to see what you guys put on top of it now ;-)

Re: Team 1527 Official Chassis Design!!!!
I like your design it is cool to see everything compact. I really like the speed controlers near the motor, you guys save lots of space for the front part. But if you put all the victors in one side, won't it be hard to connect the other side's motor?? And I could not see the battary place, too. Maybe I need to look closer:) Anyway..
I like it so much.. Hope to see your build chasis's pictures soon:) ~Begum~ |
Re: Team 1527 Official Chassis Design!!!!
there are actually 8 victors in the drawing 4 on each side, we are taking 2 off since we wont be using 8. The battery is laying down in the back behind the electrical box that the victors are mounted on. Glad you liked our drawing :) the arm will be drawn soon :)

Re: Team 1527 Official Chassis Design!!!!
Oohh CooL!! YOu guys must have worked on this really hard:) It looks so pretty and it looks like long hours' job:)
Congratulations :) I really liked it and never though like that :) (Out team strategy is little different so it would not work for us, if I had thought like you guys:) hehe) ~Begum~ |
Re: Team 1527 Official Chassis Design!!!!
What do you expect it to weigh? What are the side panels made of (I assume aluminum, but how thick?) And am I correct in assuming you are using the toughboxes? It looks like a solid design, with plenty or room for a manipulator.

Re: Team 1527 Official Chassis Design!!!!
lol, well its a good way to teach students how to used inventor, this is a composite of 3 groups different ideas and drawings, so it gets done fast and makes the first week of build fun for the computer groups

Re: Team 1527 Official Chassis Design!!!!
Are you concerned about turning with 6 wheels?

If all wheels are powered then there should be no problem with the turning. |
Re: Team 1527 Official Chassis Design!!!!
we are not concerned at all, we are dropping the middle wheels about 1/4" from the others
|
Re: Team 1527 Official Chassis Design!!!!
Aren't you worried about how robust it is?
couldn't you damage the controller if a trackball falls? |
Re: Team 1527 Official Chassis Design!!!!
this is just a chassis, it doesn't include the manipulator or our protection covering (we were thinking about a dome structure for protection but we haven't looked at any of that yet, we probably wont worry about it till later)
