How do you wire the gear tooth sensor?
Hi,
Our team hasn't used sensors other than the CMU camera and limit switches before. We have an idea how to program the gear tooth sensor, but how do you wire it? PWM cables seem to fit well, and I see that they are what the manual recommends. How do you fasten the PWM cable into place on the sensor board? Soder? Where on the RC or robot do you connect the PWM cable that supplies the 12Vdc operating voltage? And the +5 cable connects to a Digital Input port on the RC, no? Any advice would be appreciated! |

I found this when I was looking: http://www2.usfirst.org/2007comp/oth...r%20Manual.pdf

You might consider using the 2008 manual instead (although at a glance they appear to be the same).

Thank you for the links. I am still wondering: How do you fasten the PWM cable into place on the sensor board? Soder?

Re: How do you wire the gear tooth sensor?
I used a terminal block to attach the wires. I thought it would be WAY too difficult to attach the tiny wires of the IR sensor to the bigger power and ground wires, and it allowed me to attach the pwms pretty easily, although I did need to to cut one end off of them.

Re: How do you wire the gear tooth sensor?
Thank you for your reply! So... do we wire the PWM cable connected to the 12V holes on the Gear Tooth Sensor to a terminal strip on our electronics board? Our PWM cables seem to be male/female-- don't we need male/male for that? Should we cut and trim the PWM cable?
We don't have an experienced electronics team-- it would help if someone out there could spell it out... |
