Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
![]() Here's a little preview of our chassis for this year. Good Luck Everyone! http://www.team935.info |
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
please don't tell me you fabricated that entire frame :yikes:
it looks awesome very nice, GL with the meca's |
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
Beautiful indeed.
|
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
Is it just me or does it look like that no matter what way you put it down that the wheels don't touch or that the chassis will be very, very low
|
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
Im pretty sure if you just put that on the field, had all your drive team have slightly annoyed looks on their face, maybe so red lights, you could win by sheer intimidation.
awesome job on the frame guys, wish ours looked that good. |
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
That looks awesome. we were going to use mecanum wheels, but that was ruled out. our frame is probably 80/20 again.
|
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
As well as being fabricated within a week, the chassis is very low, and touches the ground. Thanks for the positive feedback.

i tried to get a drive base as low as possible until someone told me that and i went, oh no. |
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
We have the same height we used last year, but we ended up cutting off the front / back corners so we could climb ramps. Right now, we're about 7/8" off the ground.
|
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
from the look of things you might......... want to downsize it a bit.
|

Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
How much does it weigh?
|
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
Thanks for the replies. Our chassis is 7/8" off of the ground and our CIM are 9/16" off the ground. I am not sure who was logged on to our railerobotics account but the statement about it being 1/4" off the ground is incorrect. Even with 9/16" we're cutting it close. Some how our team missed that part of the rules so I really appreciate the feed back.
We have not yet weighed the frame. I'll report back when we do. |
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
#25 chains and no tensioners? How does that work?
|
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
That's incredible. How was the machining done??? Looks like CNC possibly???
|
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
That is pretty cool. We might try Mech. wheels this year, but who knows. that is awesome. how'd u make it so fast?
|

I still worry about the lack of articulation to keep your wheels on the ground. If you lose contact with one wheel (which seems likely with all of the high CoGs we're going to see), you lose control. Unless you have suspensions I don't see, I'd watch out for control issues emanating from the lack of contact. |
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
This is a veery beautiful chassis. Only concern is the same as everyone else's it may be too low. otherwise it looks pro!
|
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
Looks awesome, good luck during the season.
|
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
one question... is that legal? o_O

Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
it just seems to big to be legal, maybe they made the chassis to the maximum it could be?
i dont know, it just seems to big |

Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
First, we have not yet installed the chain tensioners. It actually drives very smooth without them but we are going to add them.
We used mecanum wheels last year with a similar chassis. We never had control issues so we never added suspension. It seems to drive extremely well without it. The robot was done on a CNC machine. And like lukevanoort stated we are very close to max dimensions and decided to make the wider longer than it is wide. Since there was a rule that stated that you could reach more than 80 in we decided on this to give us a little more reach. Thanks for all the replies and feedback. |
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
I'm curious about your reference to a rule "that stated that you could reach more than 80 in".
Could you provide a reference from the manual? The 80 in horizontal distance limit still applies |
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
Looks great. I am drooling
Do I see grips by the wheels so that you can pick it up? Good ideal. Good luck |

Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
Is it just me, or is there no gear box? Or is yours really small and nice? xD
|
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
You are correct in that there are no gearboxes. The ratio on our sprokets and the use of CIMS allows for great control. This is especially true with this year game. If time allows we would like to Yellow dip the chassis.
As regards the ablity to reach higher than 80" we will see. We may have to limit that movement:D |

Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
I do have to point out the main fuel for getting the bot done so fast is in the background Sitting on the bench. lol:) Great Chassis Guys
|
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
Just one question, I'm not sure if this has been answered before.... but what are the dimensions?
|
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
The Dimensions are approximately 37 inches by 26.5 inches
|
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
that frame, just blows my mind away.
|
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
That is one very nice piece of design and construction. I am jealous. Best of luck in the game, I hope I get a chance to see that machine in action.
Also, that's a really well-composed photo, with the sunlight on the lockers and the vice visible - maybe by accident, but nice nevertheless. Don |
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
I would like to say that your robot looks amazing! The only problem I see is the accessibility of the main breaker. It seems to be blocked by the battery and with any type of mechanism on the bot it might well be very hard to reach.
|
Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
That is a small robot.

Re: Pic: Team 935's nearly complete chassis
That frame looks really cool. Good Job guys.
