How many does it take

How many chief delphiers does it take to change a light bulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs

27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs

53 to flame the spell checkers

41 to correct spelling/grammar flames

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ...

another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"

15 know-it-alls who claim *they* were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct

156 to email the participant's ISPs complaining that they are in violation of their "acceptable use policy"

109 to post that this group is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb group

203 to demand that cross posting to hardware forum, off-topic forum, and lightbulb group about changing light bulbs be stopped

111 to defend the posting to this group saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts *are* relevant to this group

306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty

27 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs

14 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's

3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group

33 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"

12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy

19 to quote the "Me too's" to say "Me three"

4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ

44 to ask what is a "FAQ"

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

143 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again....

Didn't we already have two threads on this already? Reminds me of when I changed the lightbulb in the living room last week...

Unfortunately, this is partially accurate... Let's keep discussions on the topic of discussion.

How many Lawyers does it take to change a light bulb

the awnser is " three, one to change it, one to tip the ladder over, and one to sue the ladder company"

Well I knew somebody who was in the lightbulb industry, and they trained me in the proper way of changing them. Also, he told me it is LIGHTBULB, not LIGHT BULB. But that's neither here-nor-there. This subforum is NOT for posting lightbulb jokes, please take them to a place for lightbulb discussions.

I think you forgot:

1 CD member to post a sarcastic comment

6 CD members to take the sarcasm the exact wrong way

12 CD members to explain the sarcasm and original intent

3 CD members to make new threads about the use of sarcasm not only in CD but in society in general

1 more thread from the original sarcastic soul apologizing for his/her rude behavior, and "please stop neg-repping me and my teammates"

6 teammates to explain the originator's behavior is not indicative of the team

12 CD members to accept the apoloby

36 CD members to say they thought it was funny all along and there's no need to apologize

.
.
.
.

1 CD member to resurrect the thread 9 months from now and start it all over again

Re: How many does it take

This is all wrong. To truly figure out how many it takes you have to know what type of light it is. (Black light, regular, colored, LED, Fluorescent, etc.)

fabalafae 20-01-2008 23:22

Re: How many does it take

And after you figure out what type of light it is...it takes:

1 light sensor/CMU cam

3 prototype arm designs

2 lower frame discussions

1 week of drive train debates

1 KoP

93 phone calls to potential sponsors

6 actual sponsers

4 to 5 weeks of build time

30 programming hours

30 more debugging hours

29 threads on CD posting questions relating to build and updating everyone else on the progress

3 fights over who drives during teleop mode

12 shattered bulbs from the robo arm squeezing too hard

32 unsuccessful tries

THE FINAL CHANGING of a lightbulb of a veteran FIRST FRC team

Don't forget the one who posts a hyperlink to wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamp_%28electrical_component%29

Speaking of wikipedia. Check out what I found when I looked up robotics on there.

Re: How many does it take

Don't forget all the people saying that the picture is just Computer Generated of Edited and is in no way realistic.

Followed by all the people yelling at them saying that it could be done and the picture is real.

Then all of them getting into a huge argument, and then finally everyone else getting ticked and yelling at them to get back on topic.
