Has anyone heard about dean revealing his new IT at nationals this year??

In a word, no. And I'd highly doubt it if he would reveal it at nationals. Nationals is about FIRST, not about IT. Dean wants Nationals to be about FIRST and he wouldn't try to distract from it by revealing IT there. It would be horrendous for FIRST if everyone was there to see the unveiling of IT but had to put up with the "annoyance" of the FIRST Competition. So, basically, if and when it's released, it won't be at nationals. Dean may bring it there if it's already released but I highly doubt that'll be the place the world first gets to see what it is.

I thought he was revealing IT/Ginger at nationals. Besides if you think about it, more press means more coverage of the competition. He just has to make it competitive enough.

The thing is, like Matt said, should Dean release any information about Ginger at the National Championship, the press will swarm all over the place only looking for information on the invention. They won't be there for FIRST, and so it won't get the attention it deserves.

If he's going to do anywhere near the same time frame as the FIRST season, I'd expect an announcement to come before Nationals. That way, all of the sensation behind the actual unveiling of the invention will have ceased, but the press might still be interested enough to see what else Dean's got up his sleeve. . .mainly, FIRST.

Or, conversely, Dean might wait until a while after FIRST has ended to make his announcement.

That would be my strategy, if I had to make one.

He could keep it a "secret" and make it so we dont even know he is going to reveal it......that would be cool if on one of the days he just showed up on stage with IT/Ginger.....

i think tha'd be the best way for him to unveil it. it would be a total surprise to everybody. noone would ever know it was comming. and i don't think that it would be hard for him to keep IT/Ginger a secret. look at what he hides from us every year.

Contrary to what you said, I think Dean's intention was to reveal "it" at nationals next year to bring more attention and publicity to FIRST itself. Although you said that the unveiling of it would distract and maybe even detract from the nationals experience, I think it would only help FIRST by increasing interest in FIRST itself. just my 0.02...
