Vex Sensor?

Are we allowed to use the vex sensor, shaft incoder?

Re: Vex Sensor?

I believe you can. it is a COTS sensor that is accessible to all teams and does not hook up to the power lines of the motors.

I believe that you may use a vex sensor however I would not recommend it. The encoder is not designed for use on large robots or in an FRC environment. Most notably it relies on light entering the encoder to function. There are several very nice gear tooth sensors included in the kit or parts which would (IMHO) be much better for such a purpose. It is also possible to purchase encoders better suited for an FRC competition.
