How close can you mount the IFI Controller to a CIM motor

Very curious if the 2 1/2" CIM will put off EMI,EMF, EM-etc. and interfere with the robot controller if it is only a few inches away?

I don't know, but you better make sure you can access your controller's ports and buttons, or your life will be miserable!

Actually, 7 inches should be no problem. Maybe less, though I wouldn't try it much closer.

We have room for an inch or two and it will be directly above one motor and close to another. But it will still have easy access.

we put ours about an inch a way from two cims and havent had a problem yet. We also ran our robot for 2 hours and havent had any gliches because of its proximity. the only motor that might cause a problem is the CIMS from years past that are no longer legal on this years robot.

Are you sure about that?

I'm guessing the mini bike motor with its larger windings put off more EMF than the smaller variety of the CIM motors, possibly causing adverse effects on other components.

drill holes in the motor then mount your board, no not really

I can't offer a scientific answer (Where's Al when you need him?), but I have empirical evidence to show that this arrangement works.
