The trailer was on its way back from Texas (Greenville) picking up parts that 148 made for us and dropping off parts that we made for 148, 254, and 968 (see Travis' picture posted on very familiar looking machined parts).

148 made parts for us and 254 / 968 so it was easier for us to just drop off the parts to 148. One of our parents was already going to the Dallas area with the trailer, so we decided to save on shipping

We own the trailer as it was donated last year to us by a few of our sponsors, but we lend it out to parents and other ThunderChicken supporters.

By the way, 217 would never collaborate with 1114 becasue they are crazy and they talk funny.

I don't believe that you are collaborating with both 254 and 968. Cory said that there is not a third team in their collaboration. And both teams have very good machining capabilities.

148, I might buy. But the paragraph about the trailer being lent out could indicate that a parent/supporter was at the wheel of the tow vehicle.

Oops. You let the Chicken out of the bag, Paul!

Copioli said in somewhere that 254/968 borrowed the drawings from their swerve drive a few years back, and putting two and two together i think it is pretty safe to assume that 254/968, 148 and 217 are all using the same swerve drive base and that 217 built. That is why in all of the 254/968 pictures there have been so many of the same parts, not for a practice, but for there 4 part semi-collaboration. It probably will wind up being a lot like the 217/229 collaboration from a few years back with them being fraternal twins, similar designs but different in many ways.

Then again this is all speculation and guessing on my part, it could just be they needed shafts and bearings from 254/968 and not anything more.

FIRSTruth has a very interesting insight into this thread, even though Paul has supposedly debunked it. We shall wait and see...

Hey, are the Chickens going to go out of their way to come to the Wisconsin Regional? (AKA The Second Largest Competition This Year, Aside From Cincinatti, if I have my facts straight) That would just make the competition. You guys sound really cool.

PS: If you DO come, bring a shovel. Or a robot-mounted snowplow.

I believe the largest regional this year is GTR with 65 teams. Following that are VCU (64), NJ (63), NY (63), GLR (63), Connecticut (62), Florida (61), and Wisconsin (60). I may have missed some 60+ team regionals (I only checked ones I thought were likely to have a ton of teams), but I'm pretty certain those are all, or near all, of them. So Wisconsin is only about the 8th largest, but any regional above sixty teams is pretty large, in my opinion. The morals of the story? If you want to go to really big regionals, go east of the Mississippi. And that everything's bigger in Texas Canada.

They're going to Great Lakes, Detroit, and St. Louis.

I deeply resent that statement John. Have you been to Texas?

Yep, I've been to both Texas and Canada. Trust me, everything is bigger in Canada... the snowfall, the country side, the FIRST regionals, the waterfalls, the taxes, the antennas, the oil reserves...

Was there a ThunderChicken trailer sighting at the MWR?

Wonder if Paul was just trying to cover up the Sim-Chicken collaboration that we all fear...:)

There is no Sim-Chicken collaboration (or if there is, you couldn't tell it by looking at these bots).

I know I'm reviving somewhat of a dead thread, but some of the speculation on collaborations of 217 based on the trailer's whereabouts is interesting, given that 1114-217-148 won championship, and they were all mentioned in here.
