Car Nack Predicts #2-08

Car Nack predicts that an alliance knocking down both their trackballs during the hybrid portion of the game will be a rarer occurrence them most people think. In fact there will be at least on regional where it will never happen.

Car Nack has spoken.

Too easy, Car Nack. I'd say that it won't happen in at least half of the regionals.

Like jgannon said, its way to easy to predict that it won't happen. You could of predicted how many regionals it does happen at, that would be amazing if you got that right.

Car Nack is wise, but should give a more specific number. I'll say at least half as well.

Let's just say that I am unbelievably upset right now that we broke our camera last year and budget constraints mean we can't order another. The one year we could actually use a camera efficiently, and we don't have one to use.

Oh well, there's always my next 4 years of mentoring!

OK, I've thought about it and I want to say it won't happen in the first two weeks of regionals. If it happens in week 3, it'll be at Detroit, Peachtree, or Silicon Valley Regional. Waterloo or West Michigan week 4, and Great Lakes Regional, Greater Toronto Regional, Hawaii and Palmetto week 5. If I was a betting man, I would put money on it happening at Great Lakes Regional and Greater Toronto Regional for sure.

Week three at Wisconsin and again week four at West Michigan. And it will happen at a host of other regionals before and after weeks three and four.

It's happened during week one at the New Jersey Regional, but still seems to remain a very rare event. Have there been any other occurences hitherto?

1540 did it a few times at Portland.

Sparx did it themselves at FLR. Are you going to count times where the opposing alliance knocks of one ball for them?

1114 did it at MWR in week 1! Ouch...

I don't think it happened at SVR. In fact, it was very rare that even one ball came off, and more often than not it was the wrong one.

Now that the regionals are over, I'll say this, the team that can get one and especially both down will be in the finals hands down. And I am a betting man...

We did it in Philadelphia with us (237) getting the closer one, and 816 going around & getting the farther one off during the finals matches.
