Planetary Gearboxes (where to get them?)

Hey everyone,

I have a current project I'm working on right now that requires a custom planetary gearbox. I plan on CNCing my own housing...but i can't seem to find any sources for single gearbox stages.

I took apart one of these (http://www.andymark.biz/am-0002.html) and i really like the gear stage that AM uses.

My application is an electric long board powered by one of these guys, http://hobby-lobby.com/brushless-axi5330.htm I can heat treat parts if i have to.

I also feel like many first teams would appreciate knowing where they can get gearbox parts if they want to make there own boxes.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

Buy some DeWalt transmissions and take them apart maybe?

Or banebots. Those are the only two cheap COTS planetaries I know of.

Re: Planetary Gearboxes (where to get them?)

I was thinking about going with a dewalt, just because they seem to be something that is very obtainable. The BB gearboxes screwed me over so much last year that i don't feel too comfortable going with them hehe (nothing against BB, they have provided so many great services for my projects). My friend used a matex gearbox for his scooter that was powered by the same motor i planed to use. They were great gearboxes, but just a little to bulky and noisy for what i want to use it for.

i'm thinking i may just have to go with dewalts for the AM FP-> Cim gearbox... But if anyone out there has any great sources please post them here!
