Planetary Gearboxes (where to get them?)
Hey everyone,
I have a current project I'm working on right now that requires a custom planetary gearbox. I plan on CNCing my own housing...but i can't seem to find any sources for single gearbox stages. I took apart one of these (http://www.andymark.biz/am-0002.html) and i really like the gear stage that AM uses. My application is an electric long board powered by one of these guys, http://hobby-lobby.com/brushless-axi5330.htm I can heat treat parts if i have to. I also feel like many first teams would appreciate knowing where they can get gearbox parts if they want to make there own boxes. Thanks in advance for any help!! --Danny |
Re: Planetary Gearboxes (where to get them?)
Buy some DeWalt transmissions and take them apart maybe?
Or banebots. Those are the only two cheap COTS planetaries I know of. |
Re: Planetary Gearboxes (where to get them?)
I was thinking about going with a dewalt, just because they seem to be something that is very obtainable. The BB gearboxes screwed me over so much last year that i don't feel too comfortable going with them hehe (nothing against BB, they have provided so many great services for my projects). My friend used a matex gearbox for his scooter that was powered by the same motor i planed to use. They were great gearboxes, but just a little to bulky and noisy for what i want to use it for.
i'm thinking i may just have to go with dewalts for the AM FP-> Cim gearbox... But if anyone out there has any great sources please post them here! --Danny |
