Who got the best website to win the Nationals' website award?

So, What do you guys think? Who is going to win the nationals’ website award this year? Which team has the best website? Will your team website win it?

A little early to tell. There are still teams getting their sites up.

It's not based on who goes it's by who won it by regional.

Last year, FRC 368 from Hawaii won the award, their team was not present and the lieutenant or assistant governor from Hawaii was there to accept the award on their behalf.

I concur. they had the best most organized website last year.
I can vouch that a senior from their high school did it! He was my student helper during the summer at a private school robotics program.
Check it out! I think they can do it again! mckinleyrobotics.org team 368.:D

Thats a really nice site. Where are you guys submitting this year since you're only allowed to submit at one regional?

Your site is very yellow, it's like, how much more yellow could it be? And the answer is none. None more yellow.

That's good to hear, we're known for our yellow. I have heard from a couple people that it hurts their eyes, but the site reflects the team colors pretty well.

not to toot my own horn, but our website is really good. team 1089 usually has a good site (we won best site in 06 at the NJ regional). this year, lenny aka mclovin has been working his tail off on this site, and it looks really good

I hear you, well for team56 -- this year they want to have a green t-shirt :ahh:

And i was like, noway - the site will not be green, i mean comon -- yellow site is bad for the eyes already, but green..

So i designed the the site in red and black because thats our official team color.. lol

By the way, yellow is not too bad in Adams Bot site..

Soooo, I dont get it. How do you enter it into each event when it states that it will already be evaluated for every regional you attend? Firstawards only allows you to put the url link as in the past. I always wondered about this, but never asked before.

Re: Who got the best website to win the Nationals' website award?

When you register at firstawards.org you must also enter your team number, they most likely just compare it to a team database somewhere and if your team number is referenced with a regional that you have previously registered for the judges view and rate it. :]

I was just reading your team site and i think i might have found a sentence kind of error... when you click on the link About the adambots then scroll down to Building Your Future

Being on the AdamBots team and participating in FIRST and OCCRA means that you will gain skills that you would've been gotten in a classroom. These skills include:

i dont know if its supposed to be wouldnt have gotten or whatever but yea

Yeah, when designing a web page, there will be lots of errors in spelling because you just get tired and sick of typing stuff in, lol.

Tables are a HUGE no-no. That's like Web 1.0. I would learn how to use CSS to align your website - tables are for the content not the layout.

I do know how to use div tags with css to align the website but I don't like using it. I don't see any reason to do that. Its basically the same thing as tables but the only advantage it gives you is to update your layout much easier by just changing the CSS code instead of remaking the whole thing. But using table makes it much easier to align. We are not going to be adjusting the formation of the tables. Plus, we use tables with div with css for easier arrangements. So it ends up being the same thing but much easier to align.

Try telling that to a person who is visually impaired. (Or the googlebot)

It's not "nationals", "nats", or any variation of that...

It's CHAMPIONSHIP!

Sorry, it gets annoying when people who weren't involved in the program 8 years ago continue to call it that.

1714 has our site up. www.morerobotics.org Check it out I think it is pretty cool. For anyone who saw us at Wisconsin or Buckeye regional or the championship we have some pictures of our battery charging station along with some info. I really like the battery box. This was an example of our pit boss not liking our unorganized system of charging batterys, and deciding to create a whole new thing.

Nice sites everyone!
We just completely redesigned (and redid the back-end of) our website. It now takes advantage of PHP5 and its objectified awesomeness! Jquery for the sliding menus (mootools gave us trouble!) We (at least I) hope you like it!

note: It is still not completely polished.

Your menus act really funny without javascript enabled... but they do still allow navigation!

Tables actually arent that bad... and there is no set "web 1.0" standard that you have to comply with in order for your website to be valid.
I must admit though, many designs simply arent possible with tables...

either way, we are hoping our site makes the cut to have a shot at the national judging panel: Click Here

Thanks for all of your responses! The calendar is actually custom done with MYSQL and PHP (especially the post's).

Ah yes, due to finicky JQuery + messy CSS. Definitely not my favorite javascript library albeit one of the easier ones.

Thanks for pointing out the google search customization though! I would really like to attempt incorporating that.

I agree mate. I just think that its useless of just using div with css when you can use tables with div with css. and its way easier

I still wish that we could use mootools (or something smoother and more reliable than jquery), however content and other backend projects are trumping slidey menus for the time being ;)
