We Need an IR Sensor!

Does anyone have an extra IR Sensor they can part with. We fried ours. If you can spare one, we would really appreciate it if we could get it. Please help! Thank you.

IFI robotics has them for sale.

Re: We Need an IR Sensor!

IFI is out of sensors. If you reversed + and - You might just have the 5V regulator blown and you can replace that as some other teams have done. I ordered the tinyIR 2 kit but Bob Grieb says the code was modified to work better in the FIRST version. They are similar so I have a schematic of both and having worked component level for many years, there's a good chance the regulator acted like a fuse and blew before anything else could get damaged.

Good luck

Steve

Arefin, did you look at the link you posted? IFI says they aren't stocking any more IR boards this year.

Our sensor still trains to a remote, but after it is trained it will not send a message or light the LEDs when the remote buttons are pressed.

This is the EXACT same thing that happened to us and, apparently, team 180. What is your plan of action? PLEASE PLEASE let us know if you get it to work again. I know that IFI ran out of these boards so I think the best solution is to use another IR sensor from another vendor.

We are looking at getting the IR Sensor repaired.

We have the same problem. It's going to be a mad scramble to get this fixed or to get a new one.

Does it respond when you try and retrain it? maybe it's not broken and your remote isn't using the 38khz frequency.

Our board also fried. We tried replacing the 5v regulator. Nothing. We're trying to find another board but time is running out. :(

Our board is fried to. Would it kill them to give teams that fried there board a way to order new ones?? Or possibly let us have a four button handheld controller that talks to the robot through the io radio trasmitter??

Re: We Need an IR Sensor!

Can we come up with a failure list so we know what can go wrong and what we need to fix it when it happens? So far, I have "blown regulator" and, "won't learn". I ordered many replacement TO-92 voltage regulators and IR recievers from Digikey to cover us from those? Any other board problems/solutions?
