Encoders.....
Hey everyone. What encoders do you suggest we use for a mecanum drive? I want 4 effective but relatively inexpensive encoders. Any ideas?

Re: Encoders.....
Kevin Watson recommends the Grayhill 63R256 and 61K128 I think you can get these from Newark. I've never used them but they have pins for the connectors and that may use some kind of 4 wire plug.
I personally like the EM14A0D-C24-L064N by Bournes a 64 count encoder but hard to wire up. Both encoder types are about $25 OR you could look up banebots encoders for the cim motor. These appearently work well too. Steve |

Re: Encoders.....
There are some *moderately* expensive encoders avaliable at US Digital. The S4 encoder series have built in encoder shafts with bearings. I believe they have a vast selection of different CPR on the encoder. Check them out, http://www.usdigital.com
Good luck! |
Re: Encoders.....
Here is a picture of one of the US Digital quadrature encoders attached to our lift mechanism. Currently in this encoder has not been coupled, that will be completed once we have the entire lift mechanism assembled.
![]() Here is what the entire assembly looks like. ![]() This is one of the S5 series, it has a ball bearing, 100 counts per revolution. This unit cost approximately $50 plus shipping. |
