Re: pic: Can you say cheese?
Oh... I thought the blue tint was some kind of pun on the concept of blue cheese....
But the robot looks great. We've been enjoying your videos and photos as you've been building. I'm surprised that you had a weight issue, as it didn't look that heavy. Jason |
Re: pic: Can you say cheese?
I'd say about 69 holes in the drive frame, not counting the back rail and anything inside...

Re: pic: Can you say cheese?
well if your using 1/8" aluminum it would take 419 1/2" holes to lose 3 pounds

Volume of a hole: pi * r^2 * h = pi * (1/4)^2 * 1/8 = 0.0245436926 in^3 Density of aluminum: 0.098lb/in^3 Weight of a hole = volume * density = 0.00240528187 lb Holes per pound = 1 / weight = 415.75 holes |
Re: pic: Can you say cheese?
How much weight would it be since it is pultruded fiberglass? This question ought to slow you down a bit.

Re: pic: Can you say cheese?
The fiberglass weighs about 0.06 lbs/in^3, and it's 1/4" thick on the chassis parts....that's a lot of weight drilled out!
We're sitting around 110 or less so we didn't get to make any lightening holes this year. Quite a change from our rookie robot! |
