OI Disable Switch function???

Question about the OI Disable Switches: I have used the OI Port #3 Aux1 & Aux2 and Port #4 trig, thumb, aux1 and aux2 with the OI Disable Switches in both states and did not notice any difference in operation in regard to the effects from the port #1 #2 joystick switches. What do these switches really do?

The eight DISABLE switches cause the OI to ignore specific switch inputs on joystick ports 1 and 3. Those switch inputs are duplicated by other pins on joystick ports 2 and 4. See the OI Reference Guide for explicit details, specifically section 15. DISABLE dipswitch on page 17.
