URGENT HELP: IR board TRAINS but does not RECIEVE

I checked the voltage regulator, it's at +4.99V, and everything is wired correctly. It was working until about 20 minutes ago, and we've made NO changes. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Thanks!

Check Team Update #10. We're having the same problem. Not sure how to fix it yet. But to fix the initial cause we're thinking of using a spike in between the breaker panel and the IR Sensor.

TEAMS THAT ARE ABLE TO FLASH THE IR BOARD'S ONBOARD PIC (using an ICSP programmer)
CAN FIX THIS PROBLEM BY REFLASHING IT WITH IFI's HEX FILE

I have attached the HEX file I was sent by Mr. Greib
*I have no copyrights of it
*I am not responsible for anything!

I was also instructed to make sure the ICSP reprogrammer's pin1 is connected the board's pin1 on the white ICSP connector.

We had the same problem. The board has power, the regulator is good, but it won't run. I have a Microchip ICD2 programmer and downloaded the HEX file, and programmed the device. Verification failed at first, because I believe code protect is on. I also got this message "MPLAB ICD 2 does not support programming this device if both the internal oscillator and internal MCLR are selected. You may continue programming, but you are encouraged to cancel, reconfigure your device, and try again". I erased the device programmed it again and it works. I also removed the "code protect" configuration bit so that the programmer could verify the code.

It works!

Have to go put the board back on and get this thing in the crate!

in fact I have recieved a message from Bob (Greib),
saying I might encounter those problems if I use ICD2

Re: URGENT HELP: IR board TRAINS but does not RECIEVE

I too had good luck with reflashing the IR board. I received a lot of valuable hints from Bob Grieb. I used an MP Labs Serial Programmer and the MP Labs software that goes with it. I had to use jumpers between the IR board and programmer: Ground, MCLR, PGD and PGC. My programmer does not have an ICSP standard cable. I powered the IR board from a separate 12v supply. I flashed (erased/programmed) Firstir.hex. 3 seconds later I had a working IR board.
I set the programmer software to erase before programming and had no problems at all. This was Bob's suggestion. The board now is back to working!
My next task is to add a power switch and instruct the team on how to power up the board so this doesn't happen again.

Many thanks to all who have helped solve this problem. I put together all the files for the solution (WinPIC, Hex code, etc) into a single .zip file for folks to download.

Let's see everyone up and running during Hybrid mode!
