VIDEO: 932 Drive Practice!
Video of us practicing - a quick fork drop-down, grabbing the ball, and hurdling. Please, ignore me shouting "Recording!" annoyingly at the beginning of the clip.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-2VFzD4sdM Robot is... 96% done? Cardboard panels are placeholders, and pool noodles on hand will be replaced. No bumpers on, either. Still, really close to finishing on time! And underweight to boot. :D |
Re: VIDEO: 932 Drive Practice!
How are you going to pick the ball up without it being against the wall?
|
Re: VIDEO: 932 Drive Practice!
That is yet to be revealed... ;)
Nah, we don't have enough weight below 120 to add much to the hand. We figure there's not much of an advantage to being able to pick it up in the middle of a straightaway, since you're going to have to carry the ball past a turn to get to the next overpass anyhow. Instead of adding a third finger or something at the last minute, we're practicing driving to be able to pick up the ball against the wall consistantly. We were going to design a third finger to the hand about two weeks ago, but we realized we don't have the spare weight to sacrifice for it, especially so far out on the hand. We'll see how that decision fares on gameday. |
Re: VIDEO: 932 Drive Practice!
It looks like the front of your robot has a wedge.. is it within Peramiter of not being one?
|
Re: VIDEO: 932 Drive Practice!
There's a section of the base that protrudes in front of the wedge, so the edge that would interface with other robots is vertical. Kinda hard to see in the video, I agree. The wedge doesn't go all the way to the front. But we double-checked <R19>, and we're within the rules. (Thank goodness.)

Re: VIDEO: 932 Drive Practice!
i suggest that u find a way to pick up a ball without it up againsts a wall. pre comp we have a scrimmagw with other teams and we found that with the chaos of robot pile ups and such, getting the ball to the side and picking it up may take sum time. i guess its all driver skill though.
you could take off the pool tubes from the lift and put on a grippy material. |
