Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
Who is completely ready for their robot shipment tomorrow?
We sure aren't...:( |
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
yup,
Now if Sheppard emails the paperwork  |
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
The janitors wanted to close the school today at 2:00 so we had to be crated by then, we made it and are completely done however we had very little time to test our new hybrid code after we scrimaged on Saturday.

Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
not just who is ready for ship tomorrow, but how much initial work does your team need with the 'bot to get it in 'game shape'
|
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
We are completely ready for the ship.... still some minor work to be done though at the comp =)
|
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
Actually, Sheppard won't email you the paper work...your suppose to have a Bill of Lading in the Kit of Parts.
|
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
Heh, if only it was that easy for my team. Late shipment of parts, "new management", limited workspace and time and a list of 10 major things that need to be finished. If you looked at us, you wouldn't believe that we've been doing first for a bit of time :p but we'll be finished by ship ;)
Wish us luck |
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
our pistons don't work right now... the spikes won't cooperate, and it doesn't help that our electronics board broke and we have to use a borrowed 2006 board on our bot. also, we haven't done any autonomous work at all.. not to mention that we didn't get an accelerometer, gear tooth sensor, or gryo boards!!!!!!!! PLUS, WE HAVE 13 HOURS TILL FED EX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:ahh: :ahh: :ahh: :ahh: :ahh:
|
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
as of 5 pm today it was boxed up and we are done......
|
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
We had to be out of our "space" by 6pm. we were crated and ready to go, after doing much testing on an improved robot. We had some major overhauling to do after the Suffield Shakedown (many parts to repair)
One mentor found a piece of our robot as he was walking out of the building (fell off in transit) luckily he knew it looked familiar. I am amazed at what our students were able to accomplish over the not only the last 6 weeks but the last TWO days!!! GREAT JOB!!! |
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
we already crated it!!!!
|
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
We crated up at about 8pm on Sunday night.
We have some autonomous testing to do at VCU, and some minor parts installation mostly centering around graphics, component shielding, and the like. |
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
Ours was crated Saturday evening after a day of play at Team 931's field.
FedEx picked it up around 5 today. |
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
We got our robot finished and crated up today, and it's in our school's loading dock ready to be picked up and shipped tomorrow. We got everything working, for the most part, but our IR board was messed up, so we need to debug that when we get to our first competition on the seventh... wish us luck.
|
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
We had to crate up by noon time, everything made its way in and was sealed by a little after 12:00 to make it to the Drayage center in San Diego on time.

Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
For the first time in team 987 history we have crated the bot' up the day before it has to ship...

Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
Our robot was ready for ship like 3 days ago. But you know we had to get some drive time in before we shipped.
|
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
Team 540's is ready, and VCU's in for a surprise!
|
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
So, I think all the hardware on the robot is done... which is good. Somehow that always happens, but then on my side, the electronics/software, gets pushed all the way off until its too late!
We need to finish the OI at St. Louis, and we need to hook all of our sensors up and program our hybrid modes there too. Meh.:( |
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
2106 put Lucky in the box this evening. She hates being in pieces and cooped up in wood this way. She wants to stretch her legs at VCU pretty badly. Personally, we need a few weeks apart. I'm tired of seeing her more than my wife. This time apart will be good for our relationship.

TEAM 549 is, robot is in crate, see pic attached.... Hope they drilled holes in the box for him..

Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
Let's see ...
9:45 pm ... still 1 pound overweight ... we decided to change the back wheels an hour ago ... programming has to change the autonomous mode (because of the change to the wheels) ... Yep, right on schedule! :) best regards, Steve |
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
Well, for the first time in team history, we actually got some significant drive time practice in today. Pretty amazing considering we were a regional finalist two years ago and a winner last year! The arm works great; hurdles like a dream, can place the ball on the rack and push it off. Some minor stuff to do like putting on team numbers, and we'll work more on our autonomous modes with the frame from last year's bot after ship.
Can't wait for CT!!!:) |
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
^Kudos 558!
We have a todo list: *add lights *add sonar *fix starting position *add weight we are 10 pounds underweight X= Lightning will have no lightening holes when he goes into the crate |
Re: Who is ready for their Robot Shipment???
Yeah, we have to add weight too. Forgot that one. Beat's last year, when we were drilling holes in the frame praying we would get under the weight limit. Uberbots, not sure what more you guys have to do; your bot was awesome at the Suffield Shakedown (we had a team scouting the webcast while others built). I can only hope we're lucky enough to play with you guys again this year! You and the Gaelhawks (who we can't thank enough for loaning us the services of two of their mentors, who have been with us tirelessly every Wed. and Sat.) were an unstoppable hurtling duo.

trust me, we have loads to do... our robot may be powerful at hurdling, but unfortunately it is also equally powerful at breaking rules (namely the 80" boundary and the starting confines), so we have to fix that. We also have a few mechanical errors that actually hinder our hurdling ability, and we need to add sensors to knock stuff off during hybrid. So... we still do have more to do |
