Drayage called and said...
and said that the robot has to be there by 5 TODAY! He said 5pm is the cutoff time.
But thats impossible, because FedEx will be coming to pick up the robot Today from 10-6. So how is that going to work out? This is very confusing form a rookie teams point of view. |
Re: Drayage called and said...
What is important to you is that FedEx picks up the robot before the FIRST deadline and you get a receipt with the date and time.
FedEx can deliver the robot to drayage today, tomorrow, whenever. Just be sure FedEx picks up and gives you a receipt today... and then take a good, deep breath! |

All you need to do is get someone at your DRAYAGE place to give you a letter head paper that said you dropped your crate off at your local drayage place TODAY. You'll need to FAX this paper to FIRST within a few days, I think two days. This paper PROVES to FIRST, your crate left your hands today and you dropped it off at your local drayage. That's all FIRST really cares about. If FED EX doesn't come to pick up your crate until tomorrow (Wednesday) at your local drayage, it's OK, because you dropped off your crate TODAY and it left your team's hands. However, you need that paper from your local drayage stating they accepted your crate today. Make sure they state the DATE, TIME and sign it for you. If your lucky like us, we have a 24 hour local drayage dock, our "drayage" is a place in town that acts as a shipping hub for 18 wheelers. It's like a dock and warehouse. We drop the crate off here at this place. The owner of the place gives us a paper they received our crate. We still have to call FED EX ourselves, but FED EX will come tomorrow on Wednesday to pick up the crate at the warehouse, and not direct from us. The point is, all FIRST needs is to know your crate left your hands. Alot of team do have fed ex come directly to them and pick up crate. That's ok too, but we find it's less stressful to do it with a local drayage then have fed ex go to your local drayage to pick up crate. Does that make sense? |
Re: Drayage called and said...
Take a deep breath. It's okay. Look at the shipping section of the manual. The robot needs to leave your hands today. It doesn't have to arrive at the drayage site until a date specified in the manual (can't remember at the moment what it is). If you are using the fed ex donated shipping, your copy of the bill of lading is proof of shipment.
