Really cool, but wouldn't it be easily pushable with those 90 degree omnis? Are you worried at all about getting shoved out of the way as you make your turns?

Re: 1565 Video "Twitch"

no not really cause we can switch the wheels back so we no longer get pushed, that and pushing isn't nice lol :D

Love it!

I love seeing teams who think outside the box like this... It's wonderful!

That's an amazing drive train! Do you have any shots of the underside? I imagine hybrid mode would be pretty easy with zero-turn-radius 90 degree turns like that!

There's an underside shot here:

I know from watching that 1565 was capable of a 5-line autonomous using only timing in the autonomous code. No sensors, no crazy complexity, just timing.

Edit: Picture bigger than 100x100!

Re: 1565 Video "Twitch"

lol i wish there was sensors, because the timing took a long time to perfect, and if we even rubbed against another robot we'd most likely go off course and eventually cross over a line the wrong way..

Wow, thanks for the underbelly shot. I'm still astounded at that design. Are you going to the Championships? You'd almost definitely win a design award there!

Re: 1565 Video "Twitch"

no, unfortunately we aren't...at both waterloo and toronto regionals we were semifinalists and we lost both times to 1114 and 2056. as far as awards, we wont the Xerox creativity award at Waterloo, and the Rockwell in control award at Toronto.

Be proud of those awards, that is quite an achievement!

Oh we are proud, have no fears about that! and we will be more proud (sorry bad grammer) when this drive train becomes common place in the FIRST community :D (I have seen people mention it every now and then in threads, so its getting there *fingers crossed*)
