Team 1477 Submission

Well, this is my first ever entry to the FIRST Inventor Design competition... but I've been doing Inventor work for about three years now (its my Senior year now, and I've actually got a job at a biofuels company doing their mockups and models).

Anyways, this whole work is a solo effort, nobody on my team knows how to use this software. I had the benifit to be at Francis Tuttle PreEngineering Academy for my sophomore year of school before moving away (I think they are team 1561), so I've actually had some formal training (though all the wiring and a lot else is new to me).

Here's a smaller, low res pictures, click the link below it for a different angle and much much higher res.

Could you post a smaller picture? My computer is having a hard time with downloading it.

Re: Team 1477 Submission

Certainly.

Now I've got a new, different, and smaller integrated picture with a link to the orignal.

Thanks. Now that this junk computer downloads it so I can see it, that is awesome. I can't wait to see it in action. Hopefully somebody posts videos of all the matches. Can't remember where I saw it last year.

Hmmmmmm... It seems our team hasn't uploaded any videos, though we took some. I'll see what I can do about hosting some for you guys to see.

Awsome! The lighting is among the best I have seen. Although the green balls just grab the attention away from you beutiful electrical and pneumatic systems. Are the supposed to be tennis balls?

Re: Team 1477 Submission

That's really quite impressive. Wires look nice, and excellent choice of lighting. Is that a custom style, or one of the Inventor 2008 presets?

Aceanuu 04-03-2008 17:57

Re: Team 1477 Submission

The lighting is an edited take on "Display" lighting, so about half and half, the lighting levels were adjusted as were positions. The color gradient is custom as well. I'm currently workin' on some wallpaper/print-worthy colorations and such... as well as getting some videos of it in action.

Still workin' on the videos, but our team has made some wallpapers for our members if they want 'em, kinda as a reminder of the competition comin' up. So... no harm in postin' em here as well. Enjoy. Or don't.

Re: Team 1477 Submission

First off, this is an amazing render. The fact that you did this all by yourself is nothing short of incredible, and I expect that you'll be picking up a fair amount of hardware this season for your efforts.

On the bad news side of things, is it just me, or does this robot look to be substantially longer than 80" in the down position? I'm thinking that from the left tennis ball to the rear right corner must be at least 100", and it doesn't even have bumpers yet.

Re: Team 1477 Submission

Well, the submissions are already up on FirstBase sorta, so here's the rest of the renders I used. You can see a bit more wiring and such.

Oh, btw, here's some videos. Idk why they have the crappy ones up... probably to let peoples defenses down? Idk. Anyways, http://northsideroboteers.org/?page_name=video
