here is my favorite with 16 blocking 1114 and 1024 from crossing the second line.

Has anyone knocked off both balls?

1540 did this many times at the Portland regional. Hybrid is big this year. 1540 could barely hurdle and they almost went undefeated (lost 1 match in the finals).

Team 58 in the BAE regional Knocked off both balls and crossed at least 3-4 lines. their line crossing skills in hybrid were very good but were blocked several times.

Good show Bomb Squad. I agree, 1114 has a fantastic autonomous. Maybe I'm a little biased, but watching their robot zip around the field is a thing of beauty. :o

I'm sure 1114 will have answers to defensive autonomous just as we will. Who knows? On-the-fly ball color detection and knockoff anyone? :]

Also... I think it's time RALFF learned how to drive stick on his own... *hint hint*

And since both of them are going to attempt to include collision-avoidance anti-blocking techniques, we haven't seen the "best" yet. Nor have we seen about 80% of the robots on the field.

How about we blend the two numbers and say 1124 is the best?

If you want a serious answer, though, I was impressed with what I saw from team 25 on the NJ Regional webcast, and what I saw from 1114 on the Midwest Regional webcast. One time 25 hit a wall, backed up, and righted themselves! Our programmer, who was sitting next to me watching, was in awe. (-:

I'm looking forward to see what is in store for the week 2 regionals.

It only inspires me to do better.
our basic motto with collision avoidance is: dont avoid; plow through.
our new automode can consistantly knock off one ball and get a full lap... the second ball is hit-or-miss.

now has it been settled? is that legal? if it is or its not being called, teams will surely do what I just saw. that was awesome considering what those 2 bots can do when there is no "defense." Its an honest answer to say that teams would and should do this to defend during auto period if its within the play that they are allowing.

Re: Best Hybrid

Team 1731's hybrid can be seen here. We use 4 5,000,000 candle powered flashlights to send 4 color comands to the cmu cam. We figured there would be too much interference with the IR. We can make about 1 lap and if we are lucky knock off two balls.

Re: Best Hybrid

Team 148 did 6 lines once in Hybrid mode but if not blocked did at least 4. They were awesome!
525 were consistent performers.
You need consistency in hybrid and you need to get at least 2 lines each and every time. Knocking a ball down solidifies you as dependable alliance partner.
Team 525 I had fun watching your hybrid and thanks for picking us it was the ride of our lives!!

58 was awesome ... best herder I've seen.

At BAE I think 58 had the best autonomous. In the semifinals I believe we collided (more like a bump) with them twice, unintentionally, because we delayed our start to let Buzz knock the ball off.
