Hey guys the Championship is coming up pretty soon and me and the team are pretty excited. And you know like the title says we at 816 are just wondering where everyone would be staying. 816 will be at the Westin Peachtree and we are always down for hanging out with people.

Ok. Well as a few people have pointed out to me Championship is only one word. I dont know how it happened. I made it one word BAM it came out two. But yeah just wanted to clear that up ^_^

Awww, not many people staying at the Westin? Rookie Team 2590 will definitely be there ;) We're bringing guitar hero for the PS2 and (hopefully) for the wii (if my brother doesn't object).

Teams who are going to the westin, bring extra controllers and wiimotes for video game bashes after the competitions!

I'll be staying at the Days Inn Downtown. Of course, after I booked my trip, FIRST tells me they have rooms for volunteers at the Hyatt for $10/night cheaper that what I paid at the Days Inn:mad: oh well...

team 359 will be staying again at the atlanta braves turner field comfort inn again and watching a braves-dodgers game friday evening AGAIN. Several other FIRST teams stay there also.
We drive to the events parking one floor below the pits, catching the elevator and whammm, right in the thick of things outside the pits door.

Are you sure? You didn't get bumped out because of storm damage in Atlanta?

We did... and it's kind of annoying (personally) to see that other teams haven't. :mad:


Now we are back to where we were last year (The Hilton), which is a whole MARTA stop away from the GA Dome.
(Past the Westin, past The Hard Rock Cafe & past Hooters for those of you who know that neighborhood)

Yes, many people have gotten booted from there from what ive heard, but where your staying is a fine hotel, very nice. In '05 i was over there alot (Away from my hotel) because there was fun stuff to do.

Before I even finished reading your post, I almost jumped out of my seat when I saw that we knew another team staying at our hotel. We're also at the Embassy Suites at Centennial Park- I forgot to mention that in my first post. We saw you guys there last year too, right?

Thanks for the advice. But there was a post the other day saying something about not letting any teams stay at the Omni. Its really disappointing because we were ALL really looking forward to staying there!

The Westin is really a nice hotel, minus the elevator situation. So either you need to be super high (top 1/3rd) to get their own bank, or low enough to use the stairs, we opted for this route.

I agree, the Westin is a beautiful hotel, but the elevator situation is a rather HUGE situation after 6:45am and anytime after 7pm. We've been there for the past 2 (maybe 3?) years and it's been nothing but spectacular, but I was hoping for a change. We've been all over the hotel, last year closest to the bottom on the 14th floor. We tried taking the stairs from the 38th floor (where the view is amazing, btw) the year before, but ran into a locked exit. Regardless, I'm sure it'll be a blast again.

Yeah if you are staying at the Westin the elevators arent really a thing to rely on much. Unless you get lucky and one happens to be near your floor. I remember we had to be in the lobby at around 730 last year and we left the room at 720 the elevator didnt come in five minutes, so we ran down to the lobby. We were on the 40-something floor and at first we ran all the way to the basement. So wear comfertable shoes that you can run in. ^_^

768 will be at the Days Inn downtown, along with 340... in talking to the folks from Steele Meetings, we heard that 40 teams had to be relocated from the Omni - a real shame.

I love staying at the Westin, the location is very convenient for us. There is a McDonalds about 50 feet away, the Hard Rock is about another 50 feet away and then there is some random mini-mall with a decent sized food court that is about 150 feet away. Also we're about a 7-10 minute walk from the Dome and The Congress Center. If anyone at the Westin wants to hang just send me a PM and I can give you my contact info.

P.S. Anyone staying at the Westin, If you know you need to be somewhere early in the morning leave your room about 10-15 minutes ahead of time because sometimes (morning especially) the elevators will take that long.

Everyone from 254 and 968 is in Hawaii right now besides me (had finals today. Leaving in the morning).

This will be my fourth trip to Hawaii, though my first to an island other than Maui.

We are staying at the Aqua Continental hotel in Waikiki. 968 is staying in a house right near the beach, I think about 30 minutes or so away from the venue.

We will be staying in Waikiki also. Our entire CA team is in LA right now coming back from a Costa Rica trip at 11pm tonight, since our last 2 regionals are are very very tired being away from home for 22 days.
They have to meet with me tomorrow morning to prepare, check in our hotel at night, and start bright and early Thursday morning for the regional.
I'm more stressed now for our own regional than when we were in the mainland. :P

Your team will get to the venue a lot faster than you folks think. I think 15 minutes tops.
I also saw the pit area setup already. Its so small that only about 30 teams fit in the arena while the others are in another side room. Your in the main isle way 2 pits from us. They inserted all of the rookie teams in between veteran teams.

Sounds like the Omni's been moving a lot of people.

I live in Norcross (metro Atlanta) so I saw the Omni a few days ago and it looked okay, but that was from a moving bus on the highway...

I'm going to the first to say that 1251 is staying at La Quinta about five miles north of the GD

so far I don't know of any team staying there

but we will be at the Marriot Marquis on Thursday night for the 2nd annual Robo Prom hosted by 399

lololol Just be prepared to wait about 10-15 minutes in line. Everytime I've gone there, 'bout 3-4 times, i wasted that long. And I even went there at like 6:10am with a friend and it was still packed.

Btw The McDonalds is across the street not inside the westin, if anyone cares.
