Birthday question

Ok. So heres the thing my moms birthday is April 15th, the same day we leave for Atlanta. So we really wont be able to celebrate. Does anyone know of a way I could possibly get the announcer of our division which ever it may be to sing Happy Birthday to her. If not its fine, just a thought. Thought it would be really nice for her. Would I just have to talk to the announcer?

Singing might not be too much of a problem. In tune singing, however, could be hard to come by :D

haha. In tune, I care not. I just think she'd really like and be really suprised if everyone sang to her.

I am not sure about singing because Happy Birthday can have royalties attached. However the announcer would probably wish her a Happy Birthday, they are always looking for something to fill the dead time between matches.

That would work as well. If the singing cant happen that would be good to. I just wanted to you let her know I didnt forget her birthday. ha

As Blair "The Voice of FIRST" says in our training conferences, any and all "shout-outs" must be passed through the MC of the event (or this case the division)

The MC then uses their discretion, because there are going to be thousands of people at the Georgiadome over the three days, and if you start doing Happy Birthday shoutouts, they'll get inundated, and won't get anything else in.

So just ask the MC the round before you go up for a match, and they might put it in for you.

One alternative I remember from 2004: In lieu of a flag, one team (435 I think, as I recall it both at Palmetto and the Championship) had a sign handling said shout-out to their stuck-elsewhere mentor.

Yeah, I volunteered at the Wisconsin Regional as a field reset personnel and a student came up asking me about making a "Happy Birthday" announcement. I forwarded the question to the announcer and he said that FIRST didn't allow it.

Alright. Thank you all for the information. I will see what happens in Atlanta. If they do it thatd be great if not than you know I'll find something else to do.

If you let everyone know what time in the lobby to show up and sing......I bet you get a bunch of people.
Could be fun..

I was wished a happy birthday on multiple occasions* last season. It's up to your MC.

*My team thinks they're clever.
