are you penaltyless?

I was just wondering what teams think they have had 0 line breaking penalties. We went to the Finger Lakes Regionals and we think we did not have a single penalty for breaking a line or for anything else (outside of practice matches.....I rammed=P).

Re: are you penaltyless?

Well 326 only had one the whole weekend and is was for hitting while hurdling, but other than that we didn't have any other penaltys

Daniel_LaFleur 16-03-2008 19:05

Re: are you penaltyless?

In 16 matches (10 qual and 6 elim) we had 1 penalty (<G22>).

Considering how many penalties were called at BAE, we did fairly well.

Martijn 16-03-2008 19:09

Re: are you penaltyless?

not a single penalty for 1414 at peachtree (we think). we went through 10 qualification matches and 5 elimination matches. too bad we wont be attending any other events this year..

Herodotus 16-03-2008 19:20

Re: are you penaltyless?

We have no penalties right now.

This may change when we go to our first regional, however. :p

I don't have any penalties! Then again, I don't have a team, either....

Re: are you penaltyless?

Team 2199 had no penalties Friday or Saturday. We think we got one Thursday during a practice match, but it wasnt announced.

Re: are you penaltyless?

team 1086 was penalty free until the second match of the finals!! (which im very proud of because im an operator:D )

Re: are you penaltyless?

2144 had a single penalty over all qualifications and our quarterfinals at SVR. We had a bent wheel and could not control our robot during that one match, and hit the E-stop immediately after the penalty to avoid more.

EricH 16-03-2008 19:57

Re: are you penaltyless?

1135 has no penalties over at least the last three seasons.

That may be because we haven't competed since Championship 2005 and have yet to compete this year.:p

Grant Cox 16-03-2008 20:02

Re: are you penaltyless?

I've had 20 pushups from <G22> and 10 for going for the other alliance's ball.

DarkFlame145 16-03-2008 20:06

Re: are you penaltyless?

I'm glad to see other teams that are penalty free.

Elgin Clock 16-03-2008 20:19

Re: are you penaltyless?

We only have one that I know of. In our first match, we had a tricky situation with our drive train, and our alliance decided we were going to start nearest to the line for the lane division.

Needless to say, the bot lurched forward & immediately went a half a foot foot over the line & stopped (not completely) but we got that one penalty during hybrid mode...

Oh well.

Starting nearest to that lane divider line at the beginning of the match can be tricky sometimes.

Be careful everyone!

that's what we call it when you break the line.

That's called "breaking the plane by moving in a clockwise direction" - see <G22>. You Impede other robots - see <G40>.

Uberbots 16-03-2008 20:37

Re: are you penaltyless?

we had several breaking the plane penalties, two ramming penalties, but no others.

Re: are you penaltyless?

1458 had 2 if I remember right. One was our first or second match the other was with 1280 and another lapbot we were relying on 1280 to hurdle and they got hung up on the overpass so we tried to push them backwards off of it, we got a penalty for doing this but our only chance of winning was getting them off the overpass.

I had two or three... but that was before we integrated PID into our driving code!

I was going to answer, but it looks like Billy already did. To clarify, all the breaking the plane penalties were from hybrid, when we hit other robots and turned around over a line we had already crossed.

The two ramming penalties occured when we tried to zoom around the track with our trackball so we could hurdle, but miscalculated by an inch or so, and hit the corner of a bot hurdling in the opposing alliance's home zone. They seem ridiculous to me, since I knew what our drivers were trying to do, but you never know what the refs saw.

dsmoker 16-03-2008 23:59

Re: are you penaltyless?

We also only had 2 breaking the plane penalties in our first two matches: one when part of our gripper went back over the line trying to place at the end of the match from the other side of the overpass and one in hybrid when we, like the uberbots, we nudged back over the line.

as the driver for 435, i can proudly say that we have 0 penalties, and we won the VCU regional (thanks again 1086 and 1522)

Team 1458, home of the run on sentence.

But we where very proud of having no penalties, outside of the 2 mentioned. These good graces seemed to spread to other teams on the field, as many of our matches where penalty-free.

Team 1458, home of laultima, who can't spell sentences. Even with spell check.

i would kile to say we have no peanlties but i honestly don't know because they didn;t tell us who got what peanlaties and when we started asking they were on other teams.

I don't think we got any penalties. I know I didn't get any violations for <G22>, but there may have been 1 for something else. I'll have to check out the match videos as soon as they come out!

we didnt get any penalties Friday or Saturday. and the only one we got on thursday was due to hybrid mode malfunction...

Re: are you penaltyless?

At the Detroit Regional my team only had 1 penalty because we supposedly impeded traffic when there was a jam in one turn and all 6 robots were in it and we were the only one to get a penalty. We asked the refs and they said while in the bunch up we were bumped [to pass] and we didn't move.

We haven't gotten any breaking the plane penalties, but we got a few "entanglement/aggressive driving" penalties.

Hah, I'm glad to see Copiolo saw the light with the push-ups! :D

I've just got my ten from the Semi-Finals in St. Louis for counter-clockwise...We'll see how I do at Bayou.

171 had 1 penalty on Friday and 1 on Saturday...

Both G22's

SWAT1806 18-03-2008 14:59

Re: are you penaltyless?

1806 has had 0 penalties. Hopefully we can keep it like that threw this week.

But, our match loses have occurred because of other team's penalties.

I've had 3 G22 penalties unfortunately. The end of that field is as bad as everyone says it is, so I slipped over a little bit. Oh well, we make mistakes, we move on.

Same thing for 1135, two in one match's hybrid. 3-4 total, all <G22>. Though we did use the E-stop a bit... not due to tipping, though.

Re: are you penaltyless?

2207 has not had any penaltys but that is because we havn't competed yet. I will report back when I do know.(When we were practicing driving beforehand though one of our drivers drove the robot all the way around the track the wrong way, went through the middle diveder(which was invisible and marked by trash cans and humans). He is not our driver!!)

cziggy343 23-03-2008 08:41

Re: are you penaltyless?

we have 2 G22 penalties... but one our autonomous went crazy, and the other, none of the drive team even saw, but everyone in the stands said they saw it; so i belive them:cool:

We had the same wheel bending problems. We got a penalty right away because at the beginning of the match I pushed forwards, but it really went left, backwards over the line. I think That was the only penalty we've had at our 2 regionals. Were you guys using coolie doolie wheels, because thats what bent for us, so we replaced them for this weekend.

Re: are you penaltyless?

1379 has no penalties through the eliminations and quarterfinals at Peachtree. Our hybrid rammed the wall a few times, but fortunately damage to your own robot doesn't count. As a programmer, my team wasn't very happy with me after that match. :p
We're hoping for another penalty-free regional at Bayou this weekend, and hopefully the new hybrid code won't hurt anything.

DotCom 23-03-2008 21:10

Re: are you penaltyless?

Hehe, we somehow managed to get only one penalty for two regionals. And it wasn't a G22...=]

Yes, we were! Those wheels were horrible! We replaced them with the AndyMark plastic omni wheels for our second regional and did not have a single problem at Davis.

And to continue the thread, we were penalty free at Davis... despite being the only robot to earn a yellow card at the regional. :ahh: (High speed ramming in autonomous doesn't go over well with the refs. Our driver was much more careful than our programmer (me).)

We had the same problem at Chesapeake! Needless to say, that code was immediately scrapped and the old code reused.

Regarding penalties, I believe that 1629 had 2 at Chesapeake, but I don't know about Buckeye. 1 for entanglement and 1 for <G22>.

rjmah 24-03-2008 02:53

Re: are you penaltyless?

1246 Waterloo record:

We had one hurdler interference penalty but I'm sure the video will show we barely touched them. I think 188 happened to lose control of the track ball while we were going past, so the ref called it.

Zero R22 line penalties, the mechanum wheels let us strafe safely out of any tight spots.

lilBcos 24-03-2008 12:22

Re: are you penaltyless?

we had a couple of Breaking the plane penilties during hybrid at the FLR due to a twitchy gyro but we go that fixed and we had only 1 or 2 penilties overall at the buckeye regional

Re: are you penaltyless?

Team 457 just went to florida which was tough and exicting regional and only had 1 breaking the plane plenty during competition play and ended up 5-3 there.
