Buckeye Regional Webcast

I said I wouldn't post this until we tested it, but blah, it's better to get the word out.

Team 48 is givin' the old webcasting dealio a try for the Buckeye Regional:

http://live.delphielite.com
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/first-buckeye-regional
http://robotics.arc.nasa.gov/events/...s.php#webcasts

Disclaimer - We're webcasting n00bs - we make no promises! Be happy with a frozen, blurry image of something that resembles your robot, cuz it's better than nothin', ain't it? :D

For those constructive feedbackers out there, please post here if you see any weirdness going on Friday and Saturday. We'll be setting up and testing early tomorrow - you may be able to check in and see stuff going on periodically. Vid will be taken from the main FIRST feed.

Thanks so much to Carol Galica and the Buckeye Regional Committee for providing Internet access for the webcast.

Awesome, I hope it works out, I'd love to watch this weekend.

Re: Buckeye Regional Webcast

I'm currently in Saltillo, Mexico, and I just checked out a test feed broadcasting from Warren, OH using our capture hardware on a relatively puny Road Runner Lite connection. Looked great. It was a DV cam instead of the analog field feed, but it seems we'll be business barring any major setbacks.

Re: Buckeye Regional Webcast

The feed will be fine. We've got a crack commando team behind the scenes. We [should] have a backup system there Friday and Saturday, but I don't anticipate it being there, nor needing it.

Again, as Travis stated, much thanks to Carol Galica, the Regional Committee, and Cleveland State University for help making this possible. Because, without internet, I don't think it would've been too successful.

Any chance you'll have an idea when the feed will be available to the public? I currently have a "disconnected (security)" output in the white space at the bottom of the page. I'm not sure if it's work blocking it or web browser settings or if the feed isn't up yet.

Re: Buckeye Regional Webcast

I believe they are having field issues which are delaying practice matches, so there's nothing to see yet anyway.

Patience, young Padawans. :)

Re: Buckeye Regional Webcast

We didn't start matches until 1pm, some hardware issues field-side. Also a few network sputters which caused the webcast to not broadcast. It should be up now, let me know if not.

If they're still having problems tomorrow, I'm sure there's more than enough programming/etc. talent at this regional to make a new competition controller system that would work well enough...

If anyone could do it, Alex, you could.

6 humans with disable switches?

I've been told by the "in-the-know" that Buckeye got a brand new field that's getting pressed into duty this week due to the volume of events. Boo to being guinea pigs. :o

Hopefully some magic happened last evening and they kick-started the field into functioning. I wonder if they tried physically threatening it with a large persuasive blunt object yet.

If they're truly desperate, perhaps they could try playing this inspirational message over the loudspeakers - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=It1CI8tyCTs? :p

Let's hope by the end of the day we've webcast(ed!? - nyah, Elgin) some great, bug free action at Buckeye.

See... this man knows how to fix things :D

I'd recommend using a 36" Ridget pipe wrench

Has anyone had probelms with ustream.tv's server client freezing before it's fully started? I seem to be having this problem alot and I need a way to get it running.

I got home just in time to catch the awards... webcast looked good, sound a bit off... slight distortion on the higher end of the freqs. But other than that seemed to work good.

Nice job guys!

Great first try at the webcasting bit... We'll have to try it at FLR next year if things work out well. Currently we have it broadcast over Cable. Is anyone archiving the Buckeye matches?

Re: Buckeye Regional Webcast

I think 48 is semi-recording the regional, Not sure who else was connected to the lil' black box. I'll check into it tomorrow and see.
