Possible New Team?

Overdrive will be my last year as a student, which makes me kinda sad. But I was thinking about ether moving to an area after college (which is only 9 months since it's a automotive school) that already has a team or bring FIRST to a new area that has no team. I'll only be 19 when I wanna do this. I wanna live in an urban in a warm area so finding funding shouldn't be too hard. Does anyone think it would be possible to pull this off?

Definetly. I mean depending on where you move. But it will catch interest quick. Or even if it doesn't then don't give up.

I've heard that in our first year, there were like 5 people on the team. Then the second year, there were 15 and also the third year. But, our fourth year was break out. I along with 35 other people joined the team. We had over fourty members. This year most of our team graduated but we still hold a strong group of 30.

Stick with it and it is way possible.

I know the kids and money will come, but I'm worried about the engineers cause I'm going to be a mechanic so all my robots would be like cars =P.

If i'm not mistaken, FIRST has a program where they can pair up local engineers with team. I THINK. Usually there are engineers willing to mentor, as companies start to sponsor ur team, they can "donate" some of their engineers.

Motorola sponsors us and we usually have a couple of engineers working with us all the time.

Didnt know that. I might talk to my mentors to get some hints and info from them.

Definetly. Plus, the community is really helpful. Like the FIRST community in general. I'm pretty sure if you put some posts up here asking for help, someone will be able to answer ur questions.

Who are you currently sponsored by? Find out locations of their other offices and if any are close to where you want to move, get some contacts from people that you or your mentors know already.

We are sponsored by Proctor and Gamble............. but not for long. So that might not work too well.

Sponsor problems?:(
That blows. Well, once you tell us a location of where you want to go more people can help out and possibly give you some people to contact.

Idk where I'm going to end up. Cuase my family might be moving to Florida this summer. If I like it down there I might stay. The town we are looking into has a team 1341 I think, Knights Who Say Nee is their name. But there is a Trapacana (Owned by Pepsi) plant not too far away, which is why we might be moving. But I was also thinking of New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Huston, San Antonio, Cali, or who knows where.
